Converting a Premium to a 2 row?
Since Toyota won't option a Premium without the 3rd row has anyone looked into or actually done the conversion. I looked at both today and it looks like it would be pretty easy if you could get the parts.
Maybe see if an Overtrail owner wants to trade out all the parts ?? I know lack of 3rd row in the Overtrail has been a deal breaker block for us getting the new GX.
(side note - not looking for a lecture on how to get to better off road ability with another trim)

I have done a bit of searching online to see if I could find a parts diagram but so far there isn't anything showing interior parts and part numbers on the first few sites that come up in a search. If anyone out there has access or knows where I might find a complete parts diagram I would really appreciate it. I looked briefly at a Premium and an Overtrail side by side Saturday morning and it doesn't look like there is a significant difference aside from the center section where there is either a seat or a cover over the floor and the trim at the base of the opening.
Not only that, but the logistics of getting anyone into that row are daunting. We got together with a bunch of friends to compare new SUVs from Lexus, Mercedes, etc. It was very funny watching people try to get into my GX's 3rd row. Unless you have small children you need to stuff somewhere, IMO it's worthless.

Not sure if who your question is directed to, but since it follows my post I'll assume it was to me. I didn't go for the OT because I don't plan to do any offroading, plus I wanted the Luxury's retractable running boards. In hindsight, I should have just stuck with Mercedes. My wife & I were out today and, as usual, we used her new Subaru. It's amazing how simple and nonstressful it is to drive vs the GX whose dashboard is so crammed full of icons, all of which use international symbols that no one understands their meaning, plus all the constant beeps that are supposed to warn us of something but only distract from the road. Lexis is obviously targeting teenagers & 20 year olds who want their cars to be like video games. The design will not stand up over time. It's the "Ipad stuck on a dash" concept, taken to a terrible extreme. I was at dinner with a friend who also switched from Mercedes to a 2024 GX and it helped when he said that he just assumed he'd get used to all be meaningless icons and constant beeps and eventually figure out what they were trying to tell him, but now he's planning to dump the vehicle and go back to Mercedes. I feel the same way.
I got an Overtrail because it doesn't have the useless 3rd row seat. This is my 5th SUV, all without a 3rd row.
I currently have a Mercedes 2005 ML500 which has been a great vehicle but Mercedes has gone downhill since then. I ruled out Mecedes for a Lexus GX550 OT+. and I love it.

I also switched from a Benz (a ML350). There are several things of the Benz that I miss, such as its lack of all the constant beeps and other noises the GX constantly makes, the ML's simple to understand & use cruise control (the GX's just sucks), and Benz's better customer service (Lexus seems to only staff know-it-all Gen Z's - I know, it's redundant to call them know-it-all's (because they all think they know everything, when the reality is quite the opposite), and, the GX's complete lack of a overhead storage for sunglasses. But, the Carplay works better, and the V6 is pretty peppy, and I like how it looks.
I somehow missed some of the replies to this thread. When I was looking I found that Overtrails seemed to demand a premium price over a regular Premium trim, this is above and beyond the price difference in packages and as someone else said I wasn't planning to do any offroading. After more looking and a test drive I wound up just deciding to go with something else and found a 31k mile 2017 LS460 and grabbed that. This was always meant to be a third car for us.
