5858698[/url]]Is anyone experiencing a low speed transmission surge or hesitation when appling first applying the gas at parking lot speeds.? I especially notice it when traveling downhill or a slight decline. The motor revs as if in neutral then the transmission catchs on. I mentioned it to the dealer at the 1000 mile check up and they said they could not find anything wrong. I'm getting ready to take it in for the 5000 mile service. Any help woould be greatly appreciated. Not a very smooth transmission considering the price.
Thanks

in 13 years, Lexus cannot solve slow speed surging issue. It happened to me few times during traffic jams. This issue could leads to a safety issue
update:
I went to another mechanic and they essentially found the same thing as the dealer:
"When scanning for faults, received ACTIVE fault codes P0761 for Shift solenoid C performance or STUCK off SL3 and P2714 For Pressure Control Solenoid D and Performance or Stuck Off"
Recommendation: Start by replacing transmission solenoids SLT pressure solenoid, SL3 shift solenoid, transmission filter and transmission pan gasket. Clear fault codes and perform test drive to see if any faults return. If any codes return, then the valve body with solenoids should be replaced"
Cost is about $2700 to replace 2 solenoids. I decided not to do any work at present and asked them to clear the codes and then we see if they reappear. Crossing fingers now to see what happens
Hi all - bought a brand new '22 GX in June of 2022. Noticed intermittently that when I lightly press the gas pedal at low speeds <10mph and RPM around 1K-2K (think stop and go traffic/rolling a stop sign), there is a noticeable jolt/kick back. I've brought it up to the dealer on 3 separate occasions but never able to replicate at time of service. They've run the diagnostics each time and everything checks out. Has anyone else come across this?
23 GX Transmission Shifts Hard and Delayed into Drive
Hi all, thanks for any help.
This is my third GX I've had a 2016 and a 2020 before this 2023 and I don't remember either of those having this issue.
When I shift into drive I have to wait a couple ticks for it to engage and it engages a little rough. If I don't wait and just hit the gas it will jerk really hard into drive. Just had the 5k mile service done and of course they said they didn't detect any issues.
Is this common and I just don't remember it from my previous two GX's? Been a couple years since I had my 2020 I'm hoping that's all it is...

What you both are experiencing is rather normal on these GXs. From my experience it’s a combination of:
1) Toyota trying it’s best to keep MPGs higher on an already heavy, square pig with lower range shifts
2) The 6AT is rather dated compared to modern transmissions
3) it’s mated to a V8
My ‘23 is only 30k miles and I felt this exact jerky, unsmooth feeling plenty of times. Eventually you learn to feather the gas pedal a bit, and in city driving switching to S manual mode def helps, downshifting or maintaining lower gears so the truck doesn’t jolt into 4th or 5th at lower than wanted RPMs,
All normal, happy trucking fellas.
I have a 2011 and it's a nightmare. It's in the shop as we speak waiting on an estimate for a transmission rebuild. With that said, one place that looked at the transmission, said it was 2010 -2012 that had the transmission issues. A new transmission at 87k is ridiculous. I have 125k and I'm livid.
Hey Hawtlayer, I'm in the same boat with my 2012 GX. Which transmission shop did you use? I'm in the Houston area as well.

I have a 2015 with 115k on it and it does the exact same thing. It’s just a confused drivetrain. I don’t like it either, but I’ve learned that it’s a thing with the GX 460s.

If you get a reman transmission, look up TEQ Auto Solutions and Off-Road in Galena Park. He can easily swap your transmission for a very fair price. He is the only one I let work on my GX460, even if it is a long drive from Cypress.

Curious what went on here. I'm having similar 4 lo, trac, and CEL on. Codes for 2714 solenoids C/D. Trans shifts fine.
Hi, I was switching out of 4 low and I guess I tried to go to soon because the engine took of without the car going anywhere. I don’t know if it is in my head but now it sounds like periodically the engine revs at a higher pitch then normal while I’m driving, and it sounds rough around 40-50mph and 2000 rpms. Is there something I might have done, or is it in my head?

So a few months ago I went with a rebuild of existing transmission at Trans International on 610, against some recommendations on this and other boards and the rig just threw the solenoid code again. TEQ is my shop, did coolant valley gasket job and some other stuff for me, he offered to put in a new/rebuilt one but I went cheap instead. I'd suggest you prob just find a new transmission and have him install it.
Going to talk to my otherwise fantastic transmission guy and ask why a full zip kit rebuild would do this, he's given me a 12 month warranty so I'm sure he will do something. Wondering what the issue is, but this S*** should not be happening w a Lexus. Bought mine certified, done everything right on maintenance and I've done coolant valley, new radiator and this stuff. Anyone know of a lawyer doing a class action on this transmission?

Very slow and steady parking lot speed at first start of day and trans hits hard from 1st to 2nd right after I accelerate. It doesn't happen all the time and it only when it's the first rolling of the day, hot or cold doesnt effect the outcome. It has done the same thing from second to 3rd only once right after the shift from 1 to 2nd.
I feel the tranny is having issues and will only get worse, fluid was changed in the tyranny and all other gear oils at 95,000 and now has a 134,000. I drive slow and easy all the time, I rarely punch it.
no codes were thrown a d I can never mimicki the issue when at dealer. I have an extended warrenty, but the dealer needs to feel the same thing I do. So frustrating and I'm considering selling with the extended warrenty.
should I have fluid changed again?
