Default Hitch Install Problem

Trying to install the Curt hitch on my 2015 Premium and I'm not getting enough clearance from the plastic bumper cover. Just purchased the vehicle used a week or two ago, so I'm not sure if this is the result of some body work/rear-end, etc. or something else (maintenance record/carfax was clean). Attaching some photos, but it feels like I need about another 1/4" to get the hitch on flush to the mounting plate. I'm also seeing some potentially loose bumper cover clips, but I've never looked under a GX before and it could be typical. Anyone have some advice? Part is Curt 13043.

I did use that video as a reference, dropped the tire, etc. The issue isn't horizontal space, it's vertical. The bumper cover is interfering with the hitch receiver by about a 1/4". But my bumper cover looks different from the 2016 in the video as well.

I didn't notice that before... video is wrong... that is a '10-'13 460 and not a '16

Does sound like there could be some unknown work on rear of vehicle....

You can add some washers or contact Curt and they will send a plate to use as a washer.

Had the same issue with the Curt hitch. Returned it and got the OEM. Pain to install but better than trimming the bumper or using washers.

I'll only be using for a bike rack or, heaviest a kayak, so I don't think washers would be a fail point. I've contacted Curt to see if they have some sort of spacer plate available first. I'm more worried about the missing bolts on the bottom of the bumper cover. Might need to ask a body shop to look at it.

Default Missing shim plates.

The OEM comes with shim plates to stack between the hitch and the cross member. That's what you are missing. Here's my thread from when I installed back in 2014: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...h-install.html
Above is the shim pic.

had same problem. Curt sent me thick metal spacer plate and it cleared the bumper lip no problem.

I just popped off the trim piece and mounted. Looks fine, but spacers would have made more sense.

Really appreciate the advice from everyone. I called Curt and wound up talking to one of their tech guys in Wisconsin. In his words some GX's have a "goofy bumper cover" and they see issues with 1-2% of installations. So they literally machine these spacer plates by hand, a few at a time, and mail them out when needed. Should have mine in a few days.
