Roof Wind Deflector
I get wind noise from the roof of my 2011 GX 460 at about 65 mph. If I shut the interior sunroof panel, it is much quieter. Anyone else have this issue? Is it possible the hole in the roof is not perfectly shutting? Anyone tried a roof mounted wind deflector? Weather Tech makes a smoke colored translucent one I saw online...

It's normal that you will notice the difference with or without sunshade open unless there is excessive noise. Wind deflector is designed to work when sunroof is open to reduce the winds into the cabin.

Sunroof deflector may make it louder because it's breaking the erodynamic of the flow. I had it on my Pathfinder and it was definitely louder.

I noticed that this Sunroof Wind Deflector for the 200 series LCs was installed on some Russian 460s so ordered one out of England via eBay.

It fits perfectly and I don't notice any extra noise but have only taken it out on one drive.

Why did you decide to install this Acrad? I had 2 of them on Acuras I purchased and I removed them.

Freeway speeds with sunroof open were a little too noisy for conversations and wanted some flexibility in keeping at least partially open in inclement weather . Time will tell with this mod. If it doesn't pan out at least I can sell it used to a 200 series or 460 owner who wants one. :-)

I had one before on my other truck and I found it created more wind noise when I had cross bars (Yakima and ski rack) on. I think they way the wind was deflected and hit the ski racks made it worst.

I don’t even bother opening my sunroof when I have my Yakima LoadWarrior up on top as very noisy. Will report if worse or slightly quieter with this.

••I no longer recommend this sunroof wind deflector I purchased in this thread. I washed my car yesterday on a downhill slope (front pointing down) and when I got in I noticed some water on drivers floor mat. Apparently the metal tabs that hold it on leave enough of a gap that if water pools up at all in the deflector in allows far more water into the sunroof assembly than stock. It would appear the metal tabs ever so slightly prevent full closure of the sunroof so more water is allowed in. Perhaps if I was washing uphill or flat I would have never noticed and stock drains can keep up. The only place they had to overflow to was toward the front A pillar. I can trace it down the side pillar by airbag on drivers side. That cover is incredibly easy to remove after you pull the handgrip bolts out. The outer plastics of a few electrical connectors were wet. I thoroughly dried it up and ran a heater for a few hours yesterday. No headliner water damage either.
Deflector has been removed from the vehicle. As much as I dislike double sided taped items... if someone goes down this road that may be the safer option or no deflector at all.
EDIT: Drains are completely clear. I had even tested them a month or two back with windshield washer fluid.

Reviving this thread. The wind noise even with the interior shade closed is appalling on the highway. I gotta find a solution.
How about something like this that’s made specifically for the GX460?

WT model appears to have the same mounting setup as the LC model I have. Will it have the same issues? No idea but curious if someone has installed this version.
