Default update map system

I would like to update my GPS map in a 2012 ES 350. What is the process and cost?

Get a mount for your phone and use Waze....way better setup. Cost is over $200 and a trip to the stealership. Not worth it IMHO.

I use the mounts from Proclip...they are vehicle specific...I have used one in every car i have owned for the last 10 years.

On side road trips I use my nav and Waze to compare the best route. I like the large nav screen so I recently had it updated, I also like what Waze offers with police and traffic. I use Waze even when I know where I am going on highways for police notifications.

Perhaps you can share the cost and procedure to update the maps.

I find the onboard nav does not route me around traffic nearly as well as Waze....traffic on the nav seems like it is using old data...Waze changes on the fly.

I use Waze alot as well, same reasons as tecman. I use the large Nav screen for point A to B when doing trips and Waze/Google Maps for city streets or POIs. I hate it when Waze/Google direct me to take an exit drive 300 yards then enter the freeway again to save 1min.
Apple Map is the worst and I avoid it at all cost

Completely agree... Toss you down every back road, neighborhood, side street stop an go and not being able to clealy see suggested route... well.

Same boat. 2013 IS350 has a partial map loaded of 1/4 of my state and one north of me.
Supposedly I can install myself using: PT219-HDDG6-13 W/USB Key... $160... I need to verify this w Lex.
Models: 2010 -13 ISX50, ISF, GX460, ES350, LS460, LS600H... Hopefully know in a couple weeks.

Had the dealer do it, $169 parts and $57.50 labor.

2010-2013 GX is dealer only.

That's what I figured. IMHO not worth it.

Just yesterday there was really bad traffic on the MA Pike...Waze showed it all in detail, Lexus NAV showed all green with no traffic. That is a problem that is unacceptable to me.

I like having the "big screen" of the NAV instead of my phone too. Maybe a good alternative to updating the NAV maps would be to purchase a Beatsonic Smartphone mirroring kit? Wouldn't this allow you to view your phone (ie., Waze) on the NAV screen? It's going to cost about double what updating the maps would cost, but what a benefit!

Probably would... I'd consider this option myself but only supported for '14+
