DO NOT put that LV Redline in your diffs. That fluid is for the TC only.

GL5 for the diffs; GL4 for manual transmissions and transfer case.

You don't have to use OEM fluids.

RL makes many GL-5 fluids for diffs.

Always have liked RedLine and you are correct, their 75w85 looks like the bees knees for the front and rear diffs. If not the knees, at least a viable alternative.

Thanks for the knowledge!

I just ordered the gaskets off ebay as the kit suggested. I ordered the liquid gold from TRDPARTS.com as the free shipping was the best deal i could find. 2 for $121.02

I asked the same thing and from what I've gathered, the Motive Power Fill Pro is the best option, if you want to spend the money. Otherwise you'll be pumping oil for a bit and I'd rather not do that. In addition, I plan on doing my diff fluids again in the future so the Motive isn't a one-time use thing. Just my $0.02.

And regarding the T-Case oil, seems to me this is closer to a one-time deal since everyone is saying how good theirs looked when they exchanged that fluid. based on this I decided to spend the $$ on the liquid gold.

One suggestion is to pump the transfer case fluid slowly vs quickly and then let is settle for at least 5 minutes before tightening the fill plug.

Yeah i recently did t-case and diffs on my 200 with a friends hand pump, and the rear diff especially took a while by hand. I saw over on the Australian website (project 200, https://www.project200.com.au/diff-transfer-oil/), that he used a 100w 12v pump. I figured same as what @Chasin said, this won't be the last time I'll do this. The exact model pump the project 200 site listed was on Australia eBay, but i found this model on amazon that visually and spec wise looked identical for only $36 so i bought it. Not surprising, but there are a lotta similarities between the 200 and the GX. The diff oil, gaskets, t-case oil all exactly the same. 1 thing i enjoy on the GX is that the T-case is so easy to access. The 200 has a crazy skidplate over the t-case with like 10 bolts of a couple varying lengths. Anyways, I'll report back how the pump works after i get it and try out

I’ve just done changing the front and rear diff with Amsoil Severe 75w-90.
Did you guys have it spill out the fill hole with the amount listed? I filled the rear to about 3qt, spilled a little while using the hand pump, but I almost emptied all 3 into it and nothing came out of the fill hole.
For the front, I pumped in 1.5qt and stopped.

I’m not sure if it has been changed before but the oil came out clear with just a bit milky.
Currently at 70k miles, and since I’m not towing, I plan to do the next one at either 60k or 70k interval.

Will do the TC at next.

Also for the front you don’t need to remove all the plates. Just the big one beneath the oil pan, 4 12mm bolts.

I also use Severe Gear.

my rear diff is always a little more thirsty than the 2.85 qts the manual states. I also let it drain for about 45 minutes before refilling.

I always wait until the new lube flows out the refill hole. Then stop and let the fluid settle and then pump in more until the flow starts again.

my front diff uses right at 1.5 qts, but do the same process as the rear.

I wait at least 5-10 minutes when refillling the TC to make sure it’s full.

I had it on the lift at a friend’s shop but I think it was level. At 3qts nothing came out and the front with 1.5, nothing came out of the fill hole either. I don’t want to overfill so I just tighten everything up.

I did back and front diff a few weeks back. it was 1.5qt front and 3qt back for me, my gx was not on perfectly flat surface, probably 1.5" diff between front and back. I used mobile 1 75w-90. No issue so far.

Ordered one of these today for my upcoming 25K diff services: https://www.kaon.com.au/front-diff-t...toyota-hilux-k

If anyone wants to borrow the tool from me, shoot me a PM. Happy to share once I get done using it...
