Default Enform System Reboot Loop

This morning, my non-ML Enform system (nav, music, climate, etc) worked fine. At lunch when I got in my car, the system started to boot up, the radio sound came on, but then it cut out. I looked at the screen & it was rebooting. I thought it was just a glitch, but then it did it again. It basically got stuck in this loop where it was rebooting over & over. Thankfully I was able to turn the radio off with the volume dial, but it rebooted the entire way back to work. It never got past the warning screen before it would go black and then go back to the motion Lexus logo screen.

Anyone heard of this happening before?

It's a nationwide issue apparently.

Wow! That's scary that something at Lexus could impact all our cars.

Thanks for the link. Glad I'm not an edge case.

From Lexus Corporate:

One of our partner suppliers conducted an update to our radio (which is not unusual) that has caused a problem to the navigation system. We are aware of the problem and are working on a fix now. This is not a cyber attack.

Gotta love the information in a forum.
I've had my car all of 8 days and watching the thing reboot the whole drive home from work was very disappointing.

Certainly makes me feel better that it doesn't sound like it's my vehicle.
Although, I'll echo what others have said regarding it being crazy that a network issue can render my entire Nav, Audio, BT, etc. useless.

That's nothing. When I had a BMW the receiver for the tire pressure monitor sensors went out and took the nav, radio, bluetooth, entire instrument panel (including speedometer), lighting system, AND the turn signals with it.

It was insane.

Wow that is crazy.
My wife has an X3, and I hope we never get the pleasure of experiencing that one first hand.....

What's interesting is I don't know how they will push this fix to everyone. If the system cannot boot up, it can't get to the part of the software that initiates automatic updates. I would not be shocked if the fix requires a trip to the dealer to get them to install.

I pulled into Torrance Lexus (Los Angeles area) at 2pm and they were well aware of the issue. Disconnected the battery, waited a few minutes. Then when I turned on the car it loaded some new software or something based on what the screen was showing. So far it has worked for me ---- everything back to normal.

Does disconnecting the battery erase all memory settings in the car like the seats & key assignments?

Well, that sucks. Hopefully this will force Lexus to demand better debugging standards from their partners before allowing them to push an update to their customers that disables a big part of their vehicle & inconveniences them in this manner.

I was happy that it didn't mess with my radio pre-sets. I can live with the seat programming going away.
