YES, that worked. Unbelievable! I'm ecstatic about that tip. Thanks!

PS. I can find no reference to this feature in the GX documentation.

I have the smart start by Viper, wonder if it's the same?

DEI is the parent company for brands such as Viper, Clifford and Python

Yes, is the same.
DEI is direct electronics the company and Viper, Phyton, Automate are the brands/models. Automate is the one I installed @ the dealers. But pretty much all the brains and remote are interchangeables with each other. The one I installed in my son's car is the Avital 5303 two way remote starter and then you can buy the smart start separately.

I started out having the same issues with my 16 GX, it would only start some of the time. I was not a happy camper so I called Enform support and explained what was going on. They told me the vehicle MUST be locked using the key fob or the Enform app, otherwise the vehicle will not start. Once I started locking the correct, I have not had an issue. I don't understand that as to me that should be a simple software update.

I am able to use the key FOB remote to start the vehicle.. But the second you unlock the doors the Lexus shuts off.

There's no way around that, factory wise. That's how it is in all Toyota remote start systems. If people would stop being so quick to sue each other, Toyota could come out with a better remote start system. I think the only other option is a dedicated remote start from a company such as Avital, like someone else suggested. It just adds another small key fob to your set of keys but at least the range and functionality would be far superior.

If you or someone you know is good with wiring, you could possibly bypass the annoying safety feature.

Default Remote fob

Possibly a dumb question:
if I buy a key fob outer shell online and transfer key, battery etc into it from the old one, would I be good to go or have to get it (re)programmed?
thx!

No electronics changed so good to go. Did your case get damaged?

Just spoke with my service adviser about the enform app not being able to start the car since I took in the GX for its 5k maintenance.

He stated its an enform issue and they know about it. Does not seem like there is a resolution to the issue. Just makes it easier to not subscript to the service.

Default Does Remote Start Via Key FobCome Standard on all 2017s? Does it require Enform?

So the dealer I purchased from didn't really explain to me the remote start (and its not a feature I've ever really wanted) but I'm getting different answers about how it works. The answer I'm getting is that remote start comes on all 2017s, but you need to use the Enform app?

But what about the key fob? I followed the instructions, but it's not working. I never have registered with the app.

I'm not interested in paying for the Lexus App, but is that the only way you can get remote start? Any 3rd party options people recommend?

I went through the search and I'm still getting conflicting answers.

Thanks for the help.

Is it mentioned in the hard bound owners manual? I didn't see anything in the online PDFs. It wouldn't surprise me though if all the hardware is there but subscription is required to utilize via Enform.

You have to have a subscription. Too expensive IMHO.

My 2014 starts with the fob, not Enform. Two quick presses of the lock button followed by long press of 3+ seconds.
