What is a brake override system?

 

If the gas pedal would get stuck, like a full throttle, you push on the brake pedal and it would take over instead of the gas pedal. You would be able to stop the vehicle much easier. All vehicles with keyless ingnition in 2011 will be required to have this feature. Lexus should make a retro fit for all of their vehicles to have this safety feature in my opinion...

 

Personally if someone doesn't know how to switch gear lever to N and push a break pedal shouldn't be driving. I would be embarrassed to go on TV like some Prius folks who crashed into things.

 

You also have to remember to hold the start button for at least 3 seconds to get the engine to stop running.

 

brake override system would likely be flash fix, since its all drive/brake by wire, if they were to offer that retrofit to 2010 models.

 

So people just don't know how to use their hand to shift the gear **** to N?
I prefer they don't update anything, since I don't have good experience after VSC update on my GX... just worst...

 

If you ask folks, including salesman how to shift to neutral when the car is in motion, the answer is almost always, you push the lever up.

Not so, if you are in Select Drive. You keep pushing up and you will end up in 6th gear, if you are not already there.

the 2011 GX is now on the lexus website. they didnt add the brake over ride system to list of features yet

 

All 2011 vehicles with keyless ignition are required to have brake over ride.
