Navigation Failure Screen Blank Dealer wants $7K to replace. Back Up Camera Good.
It would be less expensive to replace it with one of the CarPlay units. There is at least one company that make "drop in" replacements that maintain all the original functionality; and add wireless CarPlay or Android equivalent. I think they're around $1000.
There are rebuild services for these units, they normally run $700-$800 for mother board repair from what I've seen.

How about HAVC still working, if not, you most likely had a dead head unit. Without a functional head unit, any after market android CarPlay unit will not work for you. If that is the case, your only option would be to get a replacement unit or have the current one repaired by few of those outlets.

This kind will replace the whole system. They were more popular a couple years ago, but they can be spec with latest operating systems.

Even those old phoenix unit mentioned above will still required a fully functional head unit to work. It just require more work to disassemble the head unit to remove the face plate and re-fitted with the phoenix unit, which means that screen black out is only due to actually the screen portion malfunction. If the screen black out was due to head unit logic board issue, non of those CarPlay Android unit will not work at all.

OP, maybe the micro sd card is corrupted? I have rarely see the complete unit failing on this gen, I saw several GX when hunting for mine and I saw a couple more than 150k miles, but hey, anything is possible.. did you rule out fuse issue? If the unit produce sound and you only have issues with your LCD panel (which is usually the case), talking from exprience here with a faulty screen of a GS350 2007, any aftermarket unit is total garbage, sepcially those "tesla ones" They are extremely buggy and slow not to consider that they look way out of place in the GX (IMHO), when I was shopping for my GX I tried a couple with aftermarket units and I truly hate them. If you do go for a complete unit replacement, if it was me, I will stick to Hamilton or carlinklife as last choice, nothing outside those two.
As for the correct part, the screens on the 2014 - 2019 are made by sharp part number LQ080Y5DG05, not only the GX uses that screen so you can hunt for it, if you can remove your unit and confirm the part number will be great. In the case of my GS I found that the part was produced by Toshiba and got a brand new replacement and changed it myself saved me hundred probably thousand of dollars.
BTW, the first gen 2012 - 2013 are made by toshiba, which explains why those screen looks and feel a lot like my old GS one (NEL75-AB9281AA)

yes. Years ago. Not good and took out soon after install. As I have said, I had to go through disassemble the head unit, took out the from control **** and penal, refit the OEM head unit behind Tesla styled screen. Not worth it at all.
As for Android unit option, there are few to choose from: (after you have a fully functional OEM head unit)
1) add-on unit that utilize the existing screen. (That option may not apply to you if your LCD screen is bad or burned out)
2) similar looks like 2022+ screen layout unit, which will also support Lexus OEM interface and menu, as well as all the OEM audio function, includes HD radio and Satellite Radio, etc.
3) retrofitted GX550 screen layout unit, which will have NO access to OEM interface, such as OEM setup menu, OEM audio, HD radio, Sat radio, dvd player, etc. The unit will have its built-in Android based FM radio only. Other audio sources such as Bluetooth stream will be completely under Android system.
4) a new version of above option but with a major upgrade that WILL support the OEM interface, setup menu, and all OEM audio options. Basically, bring the best of both OEM and Android functionalities. I am currently doing testing of the unit for manufacturer, and new unit should be released in April if not sooner. My personal first impression is very positive. Here is the integrated OEM interface for reference:
will keep everyone posted with the final review and results in coming days.
