My 15’ GX460 have a total of 3 available cables that should connect to this new headlight
One grey main plug (Female) (I believe this controls the DRL and the LED for low and high beam
One black plug (I believe it’s the leveling motor)
One wire that is plugged to the turn signal
The headlights I bought come with 4 wires coming out of the headlight which perfectly match the grey main plug from my car, the black plug from my car and the other 2 are a bridge to connect the turn signal to the headlight and then to the bulb.
If I connect everything as I mentioned above, the turn signal works but there is no DRL (Daytime running light) so the led bar is not turning on, the headlight low beam works and the high beam works too but after just a minute there is a warning light on the dash that says there is a problem with the headlight system
Now comes the harness that came with the headlights, which I believe is a harness to make the DRL work and to remove that headlight error since I see a decoder in the cable
The harness have a total of 6 Connections:
· A male Grey male plug (Which connect to the car’s female plug)
· A female grey plug (Which then connect’s to the headlight’s male plug)
· A 2 pin grey male plug (Nothing can be plugged here)
· A black 3 pins female circular plug (Decoder plugs here)
· A Black 2 pins black plug (Nothing ca be plugged here)
· A 6 pin black plug (The other car’s plug can fit here) but if that’s plugged then the headlight plug wont go anywhere, and if the car’s plugs in here then the headlight is left without plug so there is a missing bypass here I believe
If I use the harness then I have no headlight at all, no DRL, no low beam no high beam, only turn signal works.
In conclusion I believe I have an incorrect harness since I see that most of the other cables are ramifications of the main plug that connects to the car, and I have so many loose ends.
Another symptom I have seen is that the fog light stopped working as well. I went to my old stock headlights untill I can solve this issue which are: No foglights, no DRL working unless you start driving the car then the animation comes and the DRL turns on and CHECK HEADLIGHT SYSTEM error plus codes B2430 (Led Headlight LH) B2431 (LED HEADLIGHT RH) and B2425 (Headlight beam level control motor RH lost communication)
After spening all weekend working with this BS headlight connected directly to the car's pigtail both auto leveling motor plug and the main headlight plug, and trying to reach an agreement with the ebay seller, the seller is lost on this and i see no intentions of refunding, I highly advice everyone not to buy this type of headlights from ebay from no one by the way.. I started to measure the stock headlights versus this one wire by wire and I think the problem I am having is that the GX is not receiving the feedback signal from this lights, since the harness I was sent is basically useless as they appear to aplly to another car, why? the Car's 8 pin pigtal of the GX has 8 pins, of which the pin 4 and pin 8 are blank:
On the BS harness i was sent those blank connectors goes to other plugs, one of them is what seems to be a decoder and the other to a plug that goes to nowhere.
I see that the stock headlgihts sends a signal to the car for a 6ohm resistance at 50W, i belive that tells the ecu that there is a headlight present so no error message appears on the dash.
I will order 2 of this resistors and plug it on the aftermarket headlight's side and see if i can solve this problem.
I wont lie to you the lights look very good and they seemst o be high quality but the connection to the car is chaotic and there is almost no information on internetr regarding this headlights or even selling the proper harness.
the oem drl for non led uses a buck pwm signal which then raises for high beams.
if that led drl required voltage is above say 6-9 then it wont turn on.
another issue can be reversed polarities on some of these harnesses.
the decoder box is most likely just a resistor to prevent hyper flash. theres no actual CAN on the bulb.
check the original drl voltage when on, then check the new light drl voltage when on.
then compare to the new led spec. at the same time you can check polarities
This is what i have found so far:
GX 460 2015 Luxury Car's headlight plug color code and functions:
Front view of connector (car side):
LH (Driver side)
[1] [2] [3] [4]
[5] [6] [7] [8]
1 Blank Not used
2 Pink ECU signal (HF)
3 Black/White Ground
4 Blue/White LOW BEAM POWER
5 Blank Not used
6 Black/White Ground
7 Green DRL/Parking +
8 Grey HIGH BEAM POWER
Front view of connector (car side):
RH (Passenger side)
1 Blank Not used
2 Purple ECU signal (HF)
3 Black/White Ground
4 Red/White LOW BEAM POWER
5 Blank Not used
6 Black/White Ground
7 Green DRL/Parking +
8 Grey HIGH BEAM POWER
Now this is the LH Chinese Headlight connected to the LH Car's plug:
YELLOW → Black/White
BLUE → Green
WHITE → Grey
(blank)→ blank
RED → Blue/White
WHITE → Black/White
BLACK → Pink
(blank)→ blank
Since these headlights works perfectly when plugged in directly to the car, but as soon as i turn the low beam on i get codes:
B2430 (LED HEADLIGHT LH) and B21431 (LED HEADLIGHT RH)
My guess is that the GX460 LED Headlight ECU is expecting a certain electrical laod from the led driver and a feedback signature from the OEM LED Driver. Since the chinese headlights do not have OEM LED Drivers they have generic constant current drivers inside.
So what I will do next is to apply two resistors one on each side of 50W 6Ω, I am going to hook one on the LH from pin 4 (Blue/White) to pin 3 GRND and the same on the RH Red/White PIN 3 to PIN 4 GROUND
I hope to simulate OEM LED Load and prevent body ecu from thinking that the led driver is out.
I feel like I've been down some of the same rabbit holes that you are going down (and my headlight project still isnt complete yet). I had the exact same pair that you got but mine came with the correct harness. I was not impressed with the quality tbh and after going back and forth with the seller, I was able to return them.. The quality is just not there. The outer chrome lines are not straight, the paint job is weak and in my case, the internal housing was coming apart and I an sure the seal job was not great. I have no doubts that these lights would have only lasted a year (at best). '
If you want my honest opinion, try your best to return and spend a little extra on the attica's and or alpharexs... Its not worth your time nor energy and money IMO
Here are my alpahrex's (got a good deal but my drivers side needs a new LED control board) for comparison.
I say the main difference is that the ebay one have significantly less internal plastic which not only looks cheap but it hinders the internal housing integrity which is why i say that these wont last long,...
