I also went with Attica lights during a Black Friday sale on my 19 Lux. And an evilbay blackline knockoff grill. Very pleased.

Default Link to headlights please

2. I want thank all the members, especially those had done works with grille that inspired me and contributed many valuable tips, which encouraged and helped me to accomplished this conversion. I never considered myself could do anything involves with “body work”, this was a huge step for me. A big thanks!

Now to the project:

I purchased a set of 2020+ Style headlights from the manufacturer in China. The lights are made for 2014 - 2019 GX, it was a direct plug and play unit with proper harnesses. The lights were very well made, also come with the auto leveling feature. Compare to OEM 2020+ headlights, the after market one also has the DRL combined with sequential turn signal lights with switchback configuration. However, the lights are more likely replicated from European/Asia market OEM unit, it does not have the side marker as in US market. Other than that, it pretty much looks, feels, and functions as OEM 2020+ headlights.

Installation is pretty straight forward, removing the bumper cover as many of members here have done, remove the OEM headlights with four easy access screws, the fitting of new lights are perfect, no difficulty or any mis-alignment at all. Because of the switch back function, the lights also come with a adapter cable, which connects the turn signal light socket to provide turn signal voltage to the headlight unit.

Following are few installation photos, the compare to original lights as mounted:

I spend most of time to figure out what should I do with the original turn signals. Since the headlights has the nice and bright switchback turn signal, by keeping the original turn signal, it is kind of redundant and also looks odd (my personal opinion). I was thinking about to convert it as corner lights which will be activated with turn signal when the headlights were on. But after examine the turn signal reflector, it just not going to have enough light pattern to the corner as it is pretty much designed as a forward illumination. With that, I decided to make it as part of fog driving lights, given its shape and location, it would be nice to compliment the fog, and creat a sort of reverse “L” fog lights combo. So, I made some re-wiring, replaced the original amber LED with white LED, few hours later, here are the results:

Just for comparison, my 16 LX come with the OEM triple bean headlights, although a different style, but I do find the GX ones does look nicer. (BTW, the Europe/Asia LX does have sequential turn signal as well. Unfortunately, US DOT rule does not allow the sequential turn signal if initial illumination does not meet certain size):

Now, for the headlight lamination and pattern, it is fairly close to OEM ones. The lights came with the aiming way off which is expected. Although I don’t have an “official” aiming setup, I just used photos and rough figures from the OEM beam pattern, than adjusted new ones. On brightness, the new one seems a bit brighter compare the OEM one. Here are few non-scientific comparison photos:

The above video clip were taken without fog lights.

In conclusion, it was a pretty good set of headlights with few added features. Now the real test is to see how well it will old up in times. I will be keeping eyes on it and report back for any new findings. For anyone if you have question, I will reply as soon as I can either on this forum or via PM. As respecting to manufacturer’s request, I will not discuss the price in public forum, but will be gladly reply in PM should anyone has the interests.

One extra surprising finding, when I removed bumper cover and disconnected headlight washer hose, I have learned the other end of hose were directly at the bottom of the washing fluid tank, so I just wasted a full tank of washing fluid on the ground
I want to do the same to my 2018. Appreciate link information. Thanks

I was an early adapter, I had worked with a supplier in China and purchased directly from the manufacturer at time. It is more widely available on Aliexpress and few US suppliers. Few posters above has good information on suppliers.

Hey guys, how is the reliability for these aftermarket lights?

I had a bad experience with them in my Tacoma before, the light wasn't that strong and the clearcoat started yellowing and peeling after a year...

Looking into buying a GX that already has the upgrade done to it.

I had them on the updated 2013 that I parted with last week. That set had a loose part in the left light that jiggled on imperfect roads, it did this about a year after being installed. The seller was one of the distributors off Alibaba. They were not helpful whatsoever as it was more than a year since purchase that I discovered this. Before I got rid of the GX last week, I had ordered another set of lights from a different Alibaba supplier. That set appears to be incoming but it also appears that customs grabbed it. Not sure if that will arrive or if Ali will have to make it right.

The set that I put on my 2017 (wife’s daily driver), are fine to this day. They auto level like they should and have been very good optically and so forth. No issues with the quality of the light so far.

The only cautionary tale i will put forward is that, if one breaks, you’ll be a while getting a replacement.

I don't see these lights listed on the Danyang Kailite Alibaba page anymore. I guess they're no longer selling them for GX460? I do see multiple eBay sellers.....not sure which are reputable, which are shady...and most are around the $800-900 range. The Attica brand version seem to be a reputable stateside seller, albeit a bit more pricey at $1200-1300. Alpharex brand is also available, but I'm not sure I like the look of their quad light vs the more OEM-accurate style. Where is everyone buying from nowadays?

I put a set on my updated 2013 and the right light on that one started to jiggle after about a year. Took me a while to realize it. Ordered another set just to have as spares but sold it before they arrived. Have since sold those lights.

Also put them on my wife’s 2017 that has the auto level. 4 years in and they are perfect. We’ve put about 50k on it since they were installed.

Got them from Alibaba as well.

I went with Attica a year ago, in large part because they are Stateside and have a warranty although only 1 year I believe. They are at one year now and no issues so far and they work with the AFS no problem. The cutoff line on low is a bit lower than I would like when adjusted down enough to not blind oncoming traffic but I'm used to it now. Occasionally going down hill wish they were a bit higher as the cutoff line is very well defined and it is very dark above the line. On high they are perfect, especially looking out for deer and moose and better than OEM. I would buy them again.

Right now they are on sale from Cali Raised for $960. Purchased mine through Recon Recovery last year during their Black Friday sale but are currently a couple hundred more than Cali Raised.

Hello Guys I have a problem with my 2015 GX460 Luxury and some aftermarket led headlight i purchased off ebay, I received 2 headlights, the headlights have 4 plugs in total and there is a harness and a decoder but I cant get it working, this is my situation:My 15’ GX460 have a total of 3 available cables that should connect to this new headlight

One grey main plug (Female) (I believe this controls the DRL and the LED for low and high beam
One black plug (I believe it’s the leveling motor)
One wire that is plugged to the turn signal

The new headlights came with 4 wires coming out of the headlight which perfectly match the grey main plug from my car, the black plug from my car and the other 2 are a bridge to connect the turn signal to the headlight and then to the bulb.

If I connect everything as I mentioned above, the turn signal works but there is no DRL (Daytime running light) so the led bar is not turning on, the headlight low beam works and the high beam works too but after just a minute there is a warning light on the dash that says there is a problem with the headlight system

Now comes the harness you send me, which I believe is a harness to make the DRL work and to remove that headlight error since I see a decoder in the cable

The Garness have a total of 6 Connections:

· A male Grey male plug (Which connect to the car’s female plug)

· A female grey plug (Which then connect’s to the headlight’s male plug)

· A 2 pin grey male plug (Nothing can be plugged here)

· A black 3 pins female circular plug (Decoder plugs here)

· A Black 2 pins black plug (Nothing ca be plugged here)

· A 6 pin black plug (The other car’s plug can fit here) but if that’s plugged then the headlight plug wont go anywhere, and if the car’s plugs in here then the headlight is left without plug so there is a missing bypass here I believe

If I use the harness then I have no headlight at all, no DRL, no low beam no high beam, only turn signal works.

In conclusion I believe I have an incorrect harness since I see that most of the other cables are ramifications of the main plug that connects to the car, and I have so many loose ends.

Maybe the problem is that I Have the wrong harness?

the oem drl for non led uses a buck pwm signal which then raises for high beams.
if that led drl required voltage is above say 6-9 then it wont turn on.
another issue can be reversed polarities on some of these harnesses.
the decoder box is most likely just a resistor to prevent hyper flash. theres no actual CAN on the bulb.

check the original drl voltage when on, then check the new light drl voltage when on.
then compare to the new led spec. at the same time you can check polarities
