SRS Code Help - B1865 Knee Squib Circuit
Hi All,
New to this forum, but active on IH8MUD and GXOR. My 2018 recently gave me an SRS warning light so I used tech stream to pull the B1865 Code.
Seems this has to do with the Passenger side knee squib airbag circuit.
Here's the interesting thing - it's temperature related!
When the weather is cold (Sub ~65* F) the light comes on and stays on a startup.
If it warms up throughout the day and the GX is started, the warning light does not latch after the first 6 seconds (Initial SRS system check).
Where to start? Has anyone had this before? (I searched and couldnt find any mention of this code)
The intermittent nature is interesting, connection or wire condition issue?
I've looked at the FSM and am hesitant to try and diagnose beyond checking connections behind interior panels. The manual shows a special wiring tool to check some connections without setting off the airbags....
Any help would be mightily appreciated!
Thank you in advance
AC

there could be moisture that condenses in cooler temps that causes a low resistance to be detected and trigger the dtc. cracks in insulation can cause this. seen it in ignition coils also. when fails in cold or when it rained overnight, a hairdryer on low was used to dry it out and demonstrate the problem area.
might also be some other problem such as violating minimum electrical spacing based on coefficient of thermal expansion differences.
if me i would disconnect the battery, then measure the squib resistance. checking at the beginning so there then the sensor.
usually the sst is so you dont accidentally connect wires you shouldnt.

I had the same DTC's + driver knee airbag [rx450h]. Funny thing, that those lights came on & off randomly. Sometimes starting car again helped.
I also thought this is temp or moistrure related. I even bought a multimeter to check the harness.
And guess what was causing the christmass tree problems.... cheap phone charger! After some time, probably some parts got overheated and started to "poluting" 12v current. Since I got rid of it, its fine.
fun fact: my Honda do not mind me using this charger
