Default Bottle / cup holders

Hello, while I love the GX460 for many of its aspects and features, the bottle / cup holders are a big pet peeve for me ! is it just me or others feel that the size of these cup holders is too narrow to fit any decent size water bottle We love to take our GX on family road trips and our kids cannot fit their bottles in the back doors and I am not talking of any giant sized bottle but standard 20-25oz water bottles which fit well in much smaller crossovers.
As a family / overland / multi utility vehicle this was probably not thought of. How do others deal with this ?

This reminds me of the 90's car review's where it was all about how many "Big-Gulp" 7-11 cups could fit in a vehicle... and the answer was a resounding Dodge Caravan ... where "Soccer Mom's" swarmed before "screen time" was the diversion to have some parent sanity time.

The Germans resisted "cup holders" for decades given cars are for driving ... so ... being respectful ... what is you real question ?

Don't have kids now, but a 16-20 oz disposable water bottle with coozie will fit in the rear door cup holder positions. I don't use the flip down/out cup holders on the captains chairs due to their "weak" construction based on some comments here. Are your kids able to handle a regular sized water bottle with the screw on cap, or need the style with the lid and straw combo.
