Hard to answer the question not knowing your end goal.

... many posts asking this same question. For me ... the Toyota OEM Wheel inboard offset = "Soccer Mom Stance". My goal has always been to vertically align the edge of the tire tread with the edge of the fender flare. For me ... this makes the vehicle look commanding and planted without being aggressive. Any more outboard than that = "Redneck Stance".

The variables ... Tire Size .... Wheel Width ... Wheel Offset. Counterintuitive with the GX platform ... more outboard offset does create a "tire leading edge" interference challenge ... where as the tire enters into the wheel well ... there is the front body mount in the back ... and the Tupperware bumper and wheel well skirt in the front where the tire can make contact ... a balancing act ...

Default Thanks

New to the forum thank you for the information. I came from tacomas and the shop I use doesn't get very many gx460's so they are worried about mounting something that doesn't fit

OP: check out this site for determining how different tire and wheel sizes will site in your wheel well. It's helpful to see how close/far your wheel/tire sites next to your suspension compared to current setup. Generally the lower the offset, i.e. 0 to negative value, the further away the wheel is from the suspension, however the more rub you will get against fender liner and wheel well, particiularly when making turns. It's a balancing act between tire and wheel size to fit, according to how much modification to the wheel well you are comfortable with.

^ helpful reference but does not offer any insight as to interference with the front body mount. The front fender and wheel well liner can be easily trimmed or pulled back ... the front body mount if an issue would require a body-mount-chop if interference is an issue ... or an adjustable Upper Control Arm to better center the wheel in the wheel well.

I have 20x9 with a 0 offset wrapped with 275/55/20 and only have a light rub when going up a steep incline. The wheels are flush with the body of the vehicle and looks much better than tucked under the fenders.

Default Tires

I really like the toyo r/t but they only come on E/10 ply. Has anyone run a 10ply? How is the ride? Nitto has the ridge grappler in a 4ply but I can only find them with a 16" wheel.

I was thinking about this exact setup, do you mind posting a pic or sharing what tires you are running?

I run E tires on all my Toyota body-on-frame vehicles ... counterintuitive, but the shocks smooth the road out better given the non-muted feedback ... stiffer sidewalls ... yeah !

I ran them on my '20 tacoma they were great for about 25k then they got kinda rough on the highway. My GX is a little heavier and I really don't like flats. What's the second hand market like on stock GX wheels. I really don't want them

i think i paid 600 for a set a while back. one thing to remember is if you dont get 5 new ones you will need to figure out what to do about lug nuts and the different spare.
