Spare Tire Usage
My 2019 GX460 came equipped with a spare tire. The car has only 25K miles. I have a few questions about the spare wheel and tire. (1) Is the spare tire a full size tire and same brand as the other 4 tires? (2) Is the steel wheel a match for the wheels that came from the factory when new? (3) Is it a good idea to use the spare tire (never used) as replacement when I buy new tires in a few months so only three new tires need be purchased? I am not able to get under the car to answer most questions so using this forum might give me a quick answer. Thanks in advance for help.

As for deploying the spare for full time duty, absolutely ( depending on the age and tread wear if it was ever used.. )
Tire places will not service 10-years beyond the DOT Date Stamp on the sidewall. Most will argue that 6-years is the cutoff ... but that is a sales pitch ... especially when most "new" tires when sold are many times 12+ months from the DOT Date Stamp ... and sometimes even older (that should be challenged).

The spare tire was the biggest waste in my 2005 GX. I sold it in 2021 and the spare never touched the ground. The rim however was scratched and had a lot of corrosion. For my 2022, the day I took delivery I removed the original spare and put on a used as the spare. I plan to put the removed spare in the rotations and do not waste it.

That reminds me about some utility trailer tires of mine that are long overdue for replacement.
