Default Air suspension trouble

Please help!
my 2005 GX 470 is stuck on neutral. It was working fine until my alternator went and all the electric system on the car started acting crazy. Once the mechanic replaced the alternator I went to drive it home and noticed the back was totally bottomed out and a very bumpy ride. I noticed that I cannot raise my height control sensor it was stuck on neutral when I go to turn it off the button shows that it’s off but is soon as I start driving the off goes away and I hear the compressor running. I have checked the fuses and they appear fine. My mechanic pulled a code that said continuous electrical current to compressor. He’s saying that my right rear air bag has a hole. Not sure if I trust his diagnosis. Please help!

Your air bag has a hole in it.

You can either replace the bags (do both of them, as they're the same age and the other is likely to go out soon too), or swap them for traditional coil-springs (and lose the height leveling for towing)

Lots of posts on this, do a search.

Hi. Thanks for replying. If there was a hole would it cause the issues that I’m having with the buttons? It stays on N only. When I turn it off the off light comes on but as soon as I start driving the off button is not lit anymore. When I stop the car I hear the compressor go on.

give me your mechanics name...I want to hire him...he’s one of the few that’s gotten it right. It’s the air bag...screws up the compressor because it’s always running trying to fill and lights on dash always do weird things. Airbags...airbags...

I forgot to ask. Once the airbags are replaced, will the height button move from neutral? Right now nothing happens when I hit low or high.

You can only push H or L while stationary. As soon as you start driving the suspension goes back to N. This is normal operation.

If when you push H or L, it will start flashing as it tries to achieve the new setpoint. Once setpoint is achieved, light turns solid for the new position.

Mine doesn’t move from neutral. It doesn’t flash, it’s just stuck on neutral.

Fix the airbags first, then see if it changes.

But... since you're in NY you should take a look at the height sensors to see if they have rusted tight.

I am in the same boat, looking to replace the air suspension on my 2003 GX 470. It has just over 148,000 miles on it and this appears to be the first time these are being replaced according to the documentation that I currently have on the vehicle (3rd owner). Any recommendations on the best brands to replace them? I have found these options on RockAuto (link) :

Cardone Select RR-LR $129.99 - $127.79
Arnott Both Rear $129.79
Westar RR- LR $341.89 - $340.79
Suncore Both Rear $149.00

I would like to have these last another 100,000 miles easy, so it is worth it to me to spend more on something that will last. However I don't understand how the Westar's are more than double the price of multiple other options. Appreciate any experienced input!

well just think. If you go OEM your good for another 148K or 17 years...assuming we are still allowed to use internal combustion engines..,
