I got this from the ih8mud forum for the LX470 to disable the telescoping steering wheel while using techstream:

"Under the scantool menu, there is a menu for the C-BEST settings, and one of the screens in that sub-menu toggles auto-tilt on and off (default in ON). Change that to OFF, and you're done."

 

word of warning. 97 is the last year you can do this repair on. 98-00s have a sealed motor sadly. this is a nightmare ill get to deal with soon on my 00. worked great on my 95 as shown above, but ill be doing a DIY tutorial on a 98-00 tilt away replacement in the near future which will be much more difficult. ugh.

 

here is the motor... I replaced it and took it apart, to my surprise, NO grease, seems to be magnetic, I could not make it work, threw it away, now my replacement has quit working with program,(memory buttons) but side switch will let me move it up or down, and we do.
