I have a new (to me) 2005 gx470 that needs an upgrade to the navigation. Where is the best place to purchase the DVD and is it easy to do myself? When I upgrade can I still use the over ride maneuver to let the passenger select different destinations etc?

Here is the link of where i bought a nav dvd from. This is the latest one i think because i had checked it on lexus web site. This guy seems sell in a fair price, it works for 05 - 06 gx470. I just received the dish today so i have not upgraded yet i will keep it posted later. Hope this works !

Don't spend too much $$ on this, updated maps won't change the fact this is an 11 year old in-dash GPS.

 

Right now if I need to use the map i am using the Waze app on my phone it gives me a live traffic. I upgrade the map because i dont want to see the nav right there but it is useless.

 

Took me about 5 minutes to change the new navigation dvd that hard drive is under passenger seat, push 2 clips down and see "push" button, push and hold it slide to the left to eject the old dish. Put the new one in and do reverse steps and done.
The new dvd works flawlessly after changing to my zone. Recommended to anyone need it only $40 bucks.

 

WOW. Congratulations. I will save your instructions for when it is time to do mine. Can you do the over ride instructions for passenger input while driving?

Sorry buddy! Correct me if I am wrong. I do not think we can over write the navigation system with just an navigation dvd upgraded.

 

The updated disc will contain new map & POI info. It may have updated firmware. But what it won't have is a new UI or new features.

I went from the '03 version that came with the truck to the last gen3 disc available - '15 and had no noticeable changes.
