Default Navigation DVD

My 2006 GS300 has the original Navigation DVD. This is my first vehicle with NAV. What would buying the most recent DVD version do for me? I know that roads that weren't there in 2006, that were built will not show on this current disc, but is there anything else?

As the others have said, 10.1 is the newest DVD available and will include newer roads and new POIs. Even though this 10.1 disk came out in 2010, the data (I believe) is probably from 2008-2009... the data will always lag the release by at least a year maybe two.
Also, what will also change if you install the 10.1 (or anything newer then 5.1) is the ability to implement the override (this allows you to access the Nav Destinations and a few other items) while the car is in motion. Normally the system locks out many user inputs when the car is moving so that you are not distracted... What Lexus foolishly forgets is that you may have a passenger who could operate this.
I too have a 2006 GS300, it came with a 4.2 Nav disk, I bought a 5.1 disk from ebay and recently bought a 10.1 disk. I'm in the process of trying to restore the override function by creating a hybrid 10.1 disk with the 5.1 disk startup file.

i think on gen4 system, the newer nav doesn't take away the i agree button?

I think the retail is $199 (but I could be wrong). You might find some used Nav DVDs floating around (eBay, etc.) but this will probably mean a year old DVD. Maybe someone who has lots of money and a 9.1 DVD buys a 10.1 DVD and now is selling their old DVD.
I may sell my 10.1 DVD if I can't get my hybrid disk to work... I really like to have the override function available. If I do sell, I'll sell for $150 plus $10 shipping.

I think the 5.1 disk still retains the ability to do the override.
I'm pretty sure my 5.1 disk still allowed it.
Plus, the hybrid disk that are being created use the Loading.KWI file from the 5.1 disk so I assume that is the file/version that still allows the override.

10.1 on Gen 4 navigation does NOT eliminate the "i agree" screen on startup.

Also, I beleive once you have upgraded to a current version nav disc there is no reverting back to older versions.

I think you're right, but some have burned their own hybrid disk and made it work. I had the original disk in my '06, but can't seem to get the disable feature to come up. I gave up and went ahead and upgraded to the latest disk...then I sold the car and got an '08.

I have a 2007 GS350 with the original Gen 5 Nav Disc........So if I buy the 10.1 Gen 5 Nav Disc, will I still have to hit the "I Agree" button when I start the car up??

07-11 Gen 5 the agree button is lost and you gain a couple POI and Addresses nothing to jump for joy.

06 Gen 4 the agree button is intact and you gain the same thing.

Sewell Lexus Parts $184 shipped and if you have a 9.1 or 8.1 DVD Sewell will give you $50 reimbursed.(Through Rebate)

Hopefully this answered the question!
