TPMS Light Flashing
Recently purchased 2006 GX470. Great truck! Previous owner installed 20" custom wheels and tires. About a week after purchase TPMS light began flashing. Ckd all tire prs. including spare. All good. Would anyone have a clue for next step for DIY low budget repair?
There is a reset button under the dash for the TPMS pressure setting. Your manual should describe in detail how to use it. It could be set too high maybe?
If that's not it, I'd swing by Discount Tire or similar and have them check that the sensors are all working. They have a little scanner that they can use on each tire individually. The lifespan on the batteries in the sensors is supposed to be 7-10 years, so you may have had one go out.
It's a bit suspicious that this happened immediately after buying the car. The computer checks for the sensors every 50 miles I believe...so you may not have the sensors in the wheels at all and the ecu just realized this now.
Although I'm not sure how he would have turned the TPMS light off in the first place, I've never found a way to clear that code.
