Default Gas cap tether

Can someone please tell me where the gas cap tether attaches to the cover? My tether came undone and I have no idea where to reattach. I see there are a few small holes but the tether fits very loosely in them. So not sure if I have the wrong hole or if the plastic plug has worn out.

My '08 has two holes where the tether can attach - it pops out of each when opening the gas door or twisting the cap off. Unless I don't understand it, I think it's a relatively rare design lapse on Lexus' part.

I agree. The tethering location blows. I'm debating just taking my tether off completely & just using the holder in the gas door alone.

OK that's what I thought.... the tether attachment point is just a loose fit in the holes. Not a big deal but annoying...

Mine attaches to the top hole, and sometimes detaches from the fuel door.

It's a poor design. I removed the tether completely and use the holder in the fuel door.

It looks like the lower hole would work better, maybe I'll move mine. We bought it used, so who knows.

Hope it helps. I've never had mine pop out.
