it's about time again for oil change.
does anyone know if the "Maint. Req." Light is pre-set for regular motor oil or synthetic ? let say if the light is on for every 5k, can we change to 7k or 8k for example ? thanks

Use good synthetic oil, like Amsoil or German Castrol, and change it every 10k miles.

I use synthetic and am starting a once-a-year oil change schedule. The car doesn't see high mileage, so I believe this should work out for me.

I think even a synthetic oil will start to degrade after 6-8 month. Plus it will take in moisture over time. I'd go for at least twice a year oil change.

Does your GX have the Nav system? My 2004 has Nav and there's a screen where I can set reminders for all sorts of maintenance, set for either miles or time. On the other hand, I've never seen a Mnx Req'd warning light. I do most of my own oil changes so it would've come on by now if it had one. Anyway, if yours has the Nav screen you may be able to set reminders however you want. Let me know and I can write some more details if you want, maybe take some screen shot phtots
