Question Touch Screen Protectors

Has anyone experience with touch screen protectors for the Nav screen? Do they help reduce finger prints? (I swear this question is from my wife!!)

A little bit, but you have to buy the once that are advertised to reduce the finger prints as these are not glossy (smooth). But even then you can see them. I keep a small micro-fiber cloth (like the one that comes with some sunglasses) in the car to wipe the nav, gages, etc., to get the fingerprints/dust off.

I bought one for my wifes gx470 and i have to say a good investment. got it off ebay. I think it could have been a better fit but o well works great. Wipe it down with a fiber cloth when we wash the truck and not one print, scratch or mark. For the few dollars they are worth it. I think i paid 12 or 15 dollars shipped. It has been about a year now.

Those Plastic film really dont work that good for finger prints and they are hard to put on without bubbles. I use a product called the X-clean screen cleaner. I 1st saw it at a restaurant where they use it to clean their touch screen monitor. It reduce finger prints, nothing will eliminate finger prints in my opinion.

I had one of those plastic screen protectors.....for about 10 minutes.

That was about how long I spent trying to get all the bubbles out before I threw it in the trash. It wasn't cut perfectly either, which may have added to the issue with trying to eliminate all the bubbles.

I just clean the screen with Novus plastic cleaner whenever I wash the truck.

You know what's funny? I bought my 06' GX in September 2006 and I still have the stock/factory screen cover on my nav screen as well as the stock Lexus door sill covers on my GX. Pretty pathetic I know, and the nav screen cover is still in great shape, but does have a bubble at the "I Agree" button...go figure. I may have to check out the ebay covers, but it's going to feel very odd taking that stock cover off after all this time.

You're like those people who buy cellphones and leave the plastic screen protectors until they're all yellowed or completely peeled off.

Funny you should say that...I do do that, but not until it turns yellow, just until it falls off on it's own. And I just bought a new LG Env Touch and it just lost the screen cover...but thankfully I still have the green cover for the volume buttons and the key lock button.

Who else is out that like me????

I got the cover from ebay. Not the cheap thin foil either. It's a thin, hard, non-shiny plastic. No bubbles during or after install. Great fit, you can't tell there is a cover on the nav screen. It has a slight rough surface which helps greatly with fingerprints and glare. Best $10 I've spent.

I leave the factory protecto covers on whenever possible for as long as I am able. Once they get too annoyingly peeled back, I take them off.
