Default Driver's Seatbelt gets wet when it rains...

I have an 05' GX 470 Sport and it's garage kept. I went on a road trip and had to leave it parked outside overnight and it rained. The next morning I had a wet seatbelt but only the drivers seatbelt. Has anybody else had this problem? Anyone know of a fix? Thanks

Never heard of that, are you sure it was not caught in the door? If not then I would look at the rubber seal around the drivers door or the sunroof.

lol....the seatbelt was not caught in the door, i wish it was that easy. i guess i'll have to take it all apart and have somebody pour water from the outside to see if i can tell where the water is coming in.

What route do the drain tubes for the GX's sunroof take? I wonder if you have a clogged sunroof drain tube that's causing it...

I believe the sunroof drains at the front. But it's worth checking to see if they're clogged.

Open the sunroof all the way. Pour a cup of water in the front driver's side corner. It should drain out onto the ground.

If it doesn't then the tube is clogged. Buy some string trimmer line (weed-eater) that has a triangular or square profile (so it has edges) and GENTLY run it down the tube, twisting & wiggling it to dislodge any crud.

If the sunroof drains check out OK, take a look at the roof rails mounting points above the driver's position, there's a rubber gasket that seals the roof there, could have dried out or gotten damaged somehow?

Another vote for checking your sunroof drains and cleaning them out with a piece of weed whacker line! My sunroof was leaking much worse than that, actually getting the passenger side carpet soaking wet. I cut a piece of trimmer line about a foot long. I poked around in the vent drains (front right and front left in the sunroof opening) and they slowly started to drain. Once they drained properly I carefully poured more water in the drain are to make sure they were rinsed out. I also cleaned out the entire inside of the sunroof area, especially around the sunroof window and gasket. Lots of gunk can build up in there. Sunroofs cannot be made to be completely waterproof, but do have a nice draining system if it’s not clogged. Now that piece of trimmer line sits in my glovebox in case it ever happens again. Good luck!
