HI,

Suddenly my backup camera is no longer working. When I put in to reverse, the screen went blank except display "Check surrounding for safety". I anyone has this problem. Mine is 2004 with 36K miles. Is there anyway to reset or I have to visit the dealer. Is it under warranty?

My GX is also a '04 and the Back Up camera went bad. Dealer replaced it under warrantee.

The Rear (back-up) Camera warranty has just been extended to 7 years, unlimited mileage, for the 2004 Lexus GX 470.

Thanks Cap - that's good to know. Mine sometimes goes out but usually comes back okay on next start or shortly thereafter. Guess I can milk it longer until it really goes out and have it replaced. Appreciate the heads up

 

Do any of you guys know where I can get a kit to retro fit a back up camera into my gx. it came with navi but no back up camera?

 

Yes, I just got a letter from Lexus today said the warranty extended for backup camera to 7 year unlimited mileage, for the 2004 Lexus GX 470. Another plus from Lexus

For a week or two I had intermittent backup camera problem. After I put in to reverse, the camera showed some distorted image with moving lines. But after driving for a while, the problem went away. I was thinking about calling my Lexus dealer about repair, but a few days later my battery died in the parking lot. And after I changed the battery, the distorted image problem went away.

So it is likely the camera problem was actually due to low battery.

What he said with the removal process, mine was flickering and going in and out.
06 GX 470 once i had the camera removed i cleaned it up and soldered the red wire
make sure when you put the camera back under the license you didn't put together upside
down..test it first.
