Default Sirius Option?

Hi -

I am turning in my wife's RX330 for a 2007 GX470 which comes pre-wired for XM only. The optional tuner is $600 installed by the dealer. I have Sirius in my car and everyone loves it (my 4yr old loves the kids channels) so I am reluctant getting XM since they are familiar with what I have.

The dealer said XM is the only one that broadcasts real time traffic info which is why Sirius is not an option. Since the car is wired for something, so does anyone know if there is a converter kit to Sirius available?

Thanks

AJC

I was told the same thing by my dealer when I bought my 2006 GX and that Lexus will only install XM as an option. I have integrated XM and direct input Sirius installed by an aftermarket dealer because I agree with you. I have heard though that if you can find an older LX sirius kit that it can be fitted into the GX in the past, but I don't think those are available any longer. Essentially, Lexus has gotten into bed with XM I believe because of Navtraffic, etc. I like Sirius better but got XM for my wife because of the ease of use of the Navigation Screen for listening to the top 20 on 20 station. We should complain to Lexus so they adopt Infiniti's approach which lets you choose either. Good luck.

lexus is unhappy with the overall quality of the sirius signal, sirius is supposed to be adding another satellite for additional coverage sometime in 2008 to boost their signal but lexus adding sirius is on hold for now.

Default No Sirius - No Lexus

I have been buying Lexi since 1991 - and am on my 5th car and 3rd truck.

If Lexus cant offer the Sirius (and Ipod integration as well) I will look for vehicles that do offer what I want.

Thanks all for your replies...

I posted the same thread on Sirius Backstage and someone replied with this:

http://www.tss-radio.com/lexus-siriu...ce-p-4046.html

They told me that it will display on the nav so it will behave just like the integrated XM.

Now I just have to find someone to install it!!

I traded my 06 GX in for an 07 GX last week. I installed the Lexus LX Sirius radio kit on the 06 and it worked and sounded great. But since Lexus went to a 10 channel amp (for surround sound) on the 07 in place of the 8 channel on the 06 and earlier GX's, the amp connections are different and the Sirius kit will not work on the 07 GX. Also the 07 GX is not wired for XM radio, but Lexus does have a kit for a custom installation. The istructions are very similar to the Sirius LX kit from my 06 GX.

By the way, if anyone is looking to install Sirius radio in your 05-06 GX, I will sell you the whole kit, the Sirius receiver with the optional low profile round antenna for $200.00
This cost $350.00 when I bought it 8 months ago. I also have the instructions for easy installation. If interested, you can email me at: BobsGL1800@yahoo.com

Hmm...That's disheartening. Based on what you are saying, it is not possible to put Sirius in my 07 GX without going to a plug -n- play unit?

It looks like I have some research to do ...

So what is this saying ... there is NO way to get Sirius w/o the plug n play? Surely there are other companies that have made a kit??? This might sway my mother's decision b/c she's already paid up for Sirius for a ways down the road.

No Sirius kit from Lexus is available. I also paid for a year in advance but Sirius will give a refund for the unused amount.

Have you bought and tried this out yet on your '07? I really want to integrate Sirius into the new GX. I have plug and play in my GS and it is a mess with all the wires. I don't think my wife will deal with any kind of external unit with wires hanging out of it.
