Sirius Uncensored wrappa rap. Beside Howard Stern is going to be on Jan. 9 2006.

Plus side to having XM is they have terrestial antennae and Sirius don't.

No question my friend - Sirius. (a biased opinion)
Sirius is the home of Eminem in-house channel Shade45, along with Grandmaster Flash, and a host of other urban/rap goodies. Check out www.sirius.com.

As far as terrestrial antennae (repaters), that's completely incorrect. Let's keep the facts straight. XM does have more (something like 800) than Sirius, but both companies use them to fill in gaps in coverage in urban areas. XM has more because they NEED more, they're coverage is a bit more spotty due to satellite position over the Earth. None of that should be a factor in choosing one over the other, because reception is excellent for BOTH companies.

from what I've heard...if you are really into music, especially oldies, etc....sirius is the way to go...if you like sports, talk shows, etc., then XM is great...I personally got XM, cuz I love the comedy channels, and there is uncenssored rap as well....

best part is that I got free activation and 3 months free services...anyone interested in the promotion code?? =)

I'm an XM fan, but it sounds like we don't have the same taste in music.

As far as oldies go, I think XM has Sirius beat. Maybe it depends on what you consider oldies.

Both are great. Is baseball coverage vs. football coverage a consideration?

Plenty of uncensored rap on Sirius as well. Eminem has his own channel, Shade45. Other channels as well.

Unless you have subscriptions to both, it is really hard to tell. XM does tend to be better for the older crowd, and Sirius for the younger, but the difference is not huge and both are excellent, especially vs. FM and AM, unless, of course, you like obnoxious DJs and products being hawked at you for 20-30 minutes every hour.

BTW, for anyone that has both Sirius and DirecTV, you can get a good taste of XM on the DirecTV music channels. I actually use it to monitor XM while at home.

Now yer talkin' my language!!
Sirius took a hit recently in the dance channels, they had been much better than XM's, but a few channels were combined to free up bandwidth for Howard Stern, Canadian channels, etc. Though Sirius eliminated the 24/7 mixed music Remix channel, they have added beatmixed music to the other channels at appropriate times - evenings, Fri/Sat, etc. Sirius is again building momentum with world-class DJs. XM's dance channels have been stagnant.

Sirius has Boombox, Area 33, The Beat, Strobe (Disco), and Chill.
XM has The System, The Move, BPM, and Chrome (Disco).

Area 33 and The Move are the progressive house/trance channels.

You'll also notice that XM is doing a lot of copying of Sirius on their website, and in their channel lineup. Sirius has become the more progressive of the 2.
