Default RES Remote

After searching house and GX remote for RES gone. Dealer here wants $287 for a replacement. Nothing posted on Ebay. Does anyone know of a site where purchase price is "reasonable"?

I just noticed today that ours in gone too. My 7 year old never puts it back into the holder and I'm sure it fell out when he got out. I figured a new one would run about $100. Yikes.

Exclamation I have the extra remotes

Hello,
I have extra remotes!
There are two type of remotes in GX one with enactment and one without enactment system. Do you have OEM entertainment system on the back ?
Thank You

I called my Lexus dealership's parts dept today and they quoted $216. Wonder why the price difference....do they charge any price they want?? You would think parts prices are consistent.

Elex...stupid question...what's enactment?? I have the factory installed OEM DVD unit. How much are the remotes and are they Lexus, new/used, etc.

Thanks.

Steevr,

The RES remote comes in a few varieties depending on WHICH version of RADIO/AUDIO system you got. There is a basic model with NO DVD video funtions NOR NAV control funtions and then there is the FULLY loaded deluxe version with EVERY featured found on the remote. I'll try to find pictures but if NOT, you're owners manual should depict a picture for each...

what!!!??? dealer charges $200, $287 for that plastic piece pos? the remote looks like it shouldnt be worth more than $5. For $200, u can get top of the line touch-screen remote, or 2 low-end portable dvd players, or ipod nano... dealer must be crazy

Ten,

Absolutely correct, the unit should cost no more than $20.00, but other than Lexus and/or OEM of the RES where else can you get it? Monopoly is an EVIL thing sometimes... Price gouging is still being practiced today... *sigh*

Hmmm, I'm wondering now if I can pick up one of the "learnable" remotes? Good thing is my in-laws have the same GX, so I could use their remote for the new one to "learn" from. I should just steal theirs

Yeah - the lost remote thing sux, and the price - I'm sure relates at least inpart due to the small size. An inexpensive learning remote will do the trick for sure - maybe even a universal (non learning) will work for basic functionality.

As for dealer pricing - yeah they can pretty much charge what they want...some may be offering a discount from MSRP, and others charging full pop for it. I can find out how much it would be with our CL discount from Lexus of Manhattan and re-post here later this week.
