It appears to be very easy for the GX. Move the passenger seat forward, undo a couple of screws, eject the DVD and insert the new one. I believe you follow the same install as the LX470, since it is under the passenger seat.
I am not sure if the new software erases the set points you already have. But, i would think that it would not. If in doubt, write down the addresses you want to keep.

Hmmmmmmm. I called my local dealer (Lexus of Sacramento) just to see how much they were charging for the nav update dvd. To my surprise, they were cheaper...by about $15 or so. Add in tax and I will be paying $2 more than online + shipping, but what the hell...might as well support the local guy. lol

Just did this over the weekend, there were no screws on my 2005 gx built in april 2005. piece of cake, just press two tabs and the plastic face plate drops off to reveal the DVD slot. No waypoints lost or any other changes.
