they don't keep mine. I jsut go into parts, buy the DVD, and install myself. Easy!

 

I have 2 '04 GXs. I'm planning to replace my Version 4.1 discs with the new 5.1. If anybody is interested in the 4.1 discs, let me know and I'll be happy to sell them.

 

Why on earth would you want to keep your old disk? I presume that Lexus tested the disk before they released it, and your local dealer will probably test the installation before they turn the car back over to you.

I assume somebody with a version 3 would happily pay $50 or so for a version 4 instead of $275 for a version 5 - there isn't that much difference for most areas. Do remember that you are instructed that you can't go back once you upgrade.

As for sock lint - there is actually a use. If you take dryer lint (doesn't have to be socks) and put some in each cell of a regular paperboard egg crate carton, and them melt some old candle stub wax into them, you will have a bunch of firestarters for camping (you brake or cut them off as needed). I was actually taught this for my Girl Scout Adult Overnight Camping Certification. I do prefer "candle kisses" myself - they don't require lint and I can sometimes do a fire with one match.

So the next time a Girl Scout rings your doorbell, she may not be selling cookies but collecting your dryer lint. Please give generously.
