LED Break Lights
hey, the 4 runner people on the 06's have LED Breaklights.. i was out and about and i saw one and i was like whohh thoes look nice and i've allways wanted led breaklights on the gx
so they have a thread.. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showth...threadid=14083
i was wondering does anyone know if they can be modified to i guess fit in our housings because i doubt theirs would fit in ours
just worth a shot
and has anyone changed their license plate lights to led's?

They turn on faster? Maybe a 1/4 of a second faster, not a big deal. In my opinion, they dont look better, maybe just looks different. One major benefit is that LED light use alot less energy and they last much longer than regular bulbs.
G-man,
I don't mean for this to sound sarcastic, but less energy? When engine is running all electrical components are drawing power from Alternator not battery so I'm not too sure why less energy would matter... ?
Now if you tell me I can get better GAS milege, I'll be all over that in a heartbeat!!!

In a classic automotive charging system, there is a voltage regulator that controls the charging circuit and allows the alternator to charge the system. When a certain voltage is obtained, the regulator "opens" (or turns off) the circuit until the electrical system voltage drops, then it completes the circuit again. Therefore, if there is less of a electrical load on the system, there will be less of a load on the engine. Kind of like when the AC compressor turning on and off causing additional load on the engine. Remember, the electrical power in a car is not free energy, otherwise there would be no need for power plants, it is converting gas into electrical energy.
Would a LED tail light save gas due to less of a load on the engine, I dont think so. If it does, it would be so minimal that you would not even notice it. In my opinion, LED lights is the future, it draws less power and last much longer. There is even a LED headlight bulb in the works. A LED tail light might not make a big difference but a LED headlight would. The difference might be going from a 55 Watt bulb to a 10 or 15 watt LED bulb with the same light output, and the bulb will last the life of your vehicle.

The Caddy's taillight are some of the best in any car, it has that one piece look. I really dont like the LED light that looks like its made from bunch of small LEDs, even though they are all made that way.
