Default New Thump Update

Ok i broguht in my Gx a couple days ago to have the thump fixed, at the 3rd try. Now here is what they did (according to the service write-up they printed out)

1.Customer States Then Brakes Are Applied and Then Released There is a Clunk/Thump
2. Customer Roadtested with Tech
3. Possible Part of Axle Making Noise
4. Confirmed Customer's Concern and Found Updated Driveshaft
5. Installed But Splines were not Lapped and Vent Hole not installed
6. Lapped Splines and Drilled Vent Holes as Per Updated
7. Counter Measure Repair Per Lexus
8. Roadtested and Ok AT THIS TIME - (?????)

That's what they all said. Now i'm getting frustrated with line #8, hmmmm,.....

I remember the thump on my GX was bad in the first 5K miles and slowly decrease in magnitude. Right now I have 27K miles and the thump is still there but barely noticable. When I greased up my slip yoke at 25K miles the thump went away for a few hundred miles and slowly reappeared.

Not to rain on anyones parade but I do not believe that there is a "fix" as of yet. I have already had it in three times.

1. They did a lube - thump came back
2. They replaced the driveshaft - thump came back
3. They did a lube again. They said that this is all they can do at this time.

We will have to see what to do when it comes back again.

Just picked up a new 2004 series "9700G". So far no thumps or vibrations at all... In fact, it tracks like a dream. Maybe I got lucky or they got the problem resolved... crossing fingers...

Default No major thumps yet

My truck has 7k miles and I have had maybe two thumps out of countless stops but the thumps aren't bad enough to **** me off.

btw, i have read the Lemon Law book that came with our Manuals. I know it states that it should be a safety issue or something that stops the owner from using the vehicle. Well can the thump issue be claimed for the Lemon??? I'm already done with 3 attempts, and i'm having one in a week or two again!

Well, that was fast. 525 miles, and its back. As has been previously posted, I too now have a "multiple thump". Before it was one, now I am getting double thumps.

Not sure what I am going to do yet, but I will be calling Lexus CC tomm.

Okay ppl...been a while since I've thought of this topic. Can someone do a simple test for me? I need someone who has the consistent "thump" (I consider it more of a "clunk") to try this. While slowing down, please put your hand LIGHTLY on the 4x4 shifter located right of the gear selector. PLEASE DO THIS IN A SAFE MANNER & USE YOUR COMMON SENSE!

Please let me know what you feel (or don't feel). I suspect I already know what will happen. I would try this myself, but I can not replicate the "clunk" consistently. Also, please note how aggressively you are braking when you do this.

Thanks...Rob
