Default 01 Nav upgrade plus video

First of all, I want to thank Brian (sakataj) for all his help and information on the navigation receiver upgrade. I replaced my bad navigation receiver with one from 2006 RX400h (Gen 4). While at it, I replaced my audio only iPod/iPhone integration kit (Vais Tech SLi)with one that can do both audio and video (SL2Vi). According to Vais Tech, 2001 GS is not on the compatible list but we gave it a shot. Here is the result:

Audio Integration

Video Integration

Wide screen video I

Wide screen video II

Sound quality is great (even tho its the first gen ML) and picture quality is not bad. The audio control is through the touch screen just like other iPod integration kit but the video control is from the iPod/iPhone. I also have the same motion set up like Brian and my son loves to watch his Diego and Dora in the back seat when I take him around town. BTW, all parts are plug and play. As a kicker, I also use this to integrate the iPhone for streaming live radio from Taiwan.

Nice! How did you do that? What's the cost on getting the parts and where?

well done mark....it only took me 6 months of pestering to get you to post it.....haha just teasing and man your pics are HUGE. first off your DEF welcome for the help, i thank you also for the stuff you helped me with and the stuff you helped me get. i am truthfully grateful to you for it

guys if you havent figured it out yet, this means VIDEO/AUDIO from a ipod, iphone, ipad, etc etc (yes you'll still have to upload it through itunes) but if your like me the 160G iPod i carry holds PLENTY for me... (i have 26,000+ songs, 6,000+ pics, some movies, etc etc...)

anyways this is a great upgrade to people with the nav wanting to have video, music, and more. great job mark

I know I have been a procrastinator... heehee...

iPod/iPhone Integration: Vais Tech: SL2Vi (Don't know which package)

You guys can email: sales@prestigiousdetailing.com for more information. They are authorized dealer for Vais with attractive price and they are the one who did the installation for me also.

Hope this helps.

Looks great. I probably would have gone this route myself if Lexus had maps for Hawaii. Makes my Gen3/4 Nav useless here. The later updates with Hawaii maps only work on Gen5 and higher. Anyway. Good job.

If the navigation maps actually worked for me for the Gen3/4, I probably would have left the stock NAV screen in and did something like this. Reason being is it would have just been easier. I definitely like my Alpine that can do iPod video as well, plus it works perfectly with my rear Alpine headrest monitors, but I'm not that hardcore into A/V as I once was, so as long as it works its good enough for me, and if the stock NAV screen could accomplish that it would have been good.

I think it was from 2008. Maybe 2007. Whenever that Version 8 I think it was came out.

ah ic. yeah if 2006 gs (gen4) in hawaii has nav, then that would be the one for you

but if they only started since 2007 (gen5), then like you said they don't have anything until gen5
