Default First time buyer - Need help with dealer

Hi everyone. First off just wanted to say I'm really glad a community like this exists out there for enthusiasts and car heads alike. Comforting to share and receive information that's not from a retailers or seller.

I've never bought a Lexus before and I always get pretty nervous paying for something this expensive (especially the GS F). We all know Depreciation starts as soon as you drive off the lot and the more expensive cars usually suffer the most. I had a chance to test drive one of these recently and I really enjoyed it. For the price point, I'm having a hard time justifying it but I'm considering quality of life (i'll be driving it every day about 30-40 miles a day). It was an absolute blast to test drive.

That being said I HATE dealerships. I always feel like their out to get me or just down right commit fraud against me so I wanted to get yall's opinion on my current offer from the dealership. The current deal I have going is:

Nebula Grey (orange calipers + Circuit red interior + mark Levinson Sound system)

87,825 MSRP
TTL = 5,165

= $93,335

-8K Rebates (golden oportunity promotion going on this month)
*-2k from the dealer*

=81,335 OTD (includes TTL)

Is this a good deal? I went through the payment thread in the forums and found huge skews but couldn't find if that was after TTL. Edmunds and Trucar says people in the area payed 78k but again no sure if that before or after taxes.

For those of you with a Nubula Grey color, what do you guys think of it?
BTW I can find NO info or release on the 2017 GS F, so waiting for next years model for a price drop on this may be out.

welcome to the forum. you can search on the other threads, one of them is about pricing. i don't think your price is particularly hot.

shouldn't the 8k and 2k be subtracted from the purchase price before ttl?

I agree. I'm not sure why it was tagged on after ttl. After looking at he depreciation of the RC-F after year one I'm sure he same is going to happen to the GS F. I'm going to try and have them come down a bit or just wait until December and try again.

After looking at that thread it doesn't seem anyone is paying over 80 otd ttl included. And that was months ago. Any suggestions on bargaining tactics?

What part of Texas are you in? If you're in the DFW area, you can play dealers against each other. Get a paper offer from a dealer then hand it to another one and say beat that. Then take that offer to the first or even a third dealer. The combo you're looking at is not rare at all. Keep doing this paper shuffle (ideally through email via their Internet Sales staff) until nobody will budge. I bet you'll hit 78k before you know it.

I am in Houston. This is exactly what I did but I was the middle man. I ended up just buying one from a dealer that gave me a great deal. He was very honest about it and the process. The first guy I talked to seemed like a crook. The fact that he was trying to get me to put down a thousand dollars to "hold an exclusive color that isn't available in the south" really tipped me off. I ended up calling around and found out that 3 other dealerships in the area had the same color exterior and interior combo that I wanted. Also the whole applying rebates after the sales tax on the MSRP ticked me off too.

I am extremely happy with the purchase and the dealership I got it from. Thanks for the help rominl and Afrosheen! Pictures to come soon.

You could have played Dallas dealers against Houston dealers also. Sounds like you're pleased with the deal. Eagerly awaiting specifics.

High 70's is very doable. Especially with the way the GSF sales are going. The 2017 models are gonna be out soon, dealers are gonna want to offload their 16's.

Do you think it's possible to get it in low 70s by December? I'm thinking about purchasing a GSF sometime in the next year, wanna start seeing what options I have...

Got mine from Lexus of Silver Spring, MD for $74k + TTL . Probably could have saved an addition $1k-$2k but they gave me over $3k more on my trade-in than any other dealer so I didn't feel like pushing it. I'm sure as it gets closer to 2017 pricing should slide even lower. They were unwilling to go that low until I showed them an ad from Lexus of Chattanooga for $75k and then they agreed, so its worth playing dealers with each other, especially if you can get an email confirmation of pricing to show them, even if that dealer is 500 miles away.
