Default 2016 gsf wont move

Hello everyone posting here in regards of my Lexus gsf with 116k miles just to says that on two days ago I did a quick pull and I heard something loud from the rear or popped it didn't move anymore no engine light or nothing. I was near my house so I just parked it back in neutral and moved it. But every time I would try and drive it it would feel like I'm driving over a rock or something from the rear I checked the area no leaks or broken axle Does anybody have some type of idea what it could be. Thnx in advanced I was thinking of towing it to Lexus but I'm afraid it'll be something a lot worse

Hmm, there was a report of a rear end failure earlier this year. Pull the drain plug and check the fluid condition.

like the above person said..pull your diff drain plug and see what comes out. I had a very similar issue and my diff decided to shear it's gears

This is starting to make me nervous. I serviced the wife's car in the last 10k miles - diff and TVD clutches. I'll be mightily pissed off if the ring gear fails. That's not at all expected. Components like this typically have at least a 500,000 mile service life.

What is the change interval miles/time on the diff and clutches? Thanks!

The US model does not have a change interval specified. Sad but true, the EPA has made this a reality. The manufacturers do not want to deal with the waste streams, so they call everything but engine oil and coolant a "lifetime" fill, even though they know a lot better and specify change intervals in other markets.

I did the wife's car at about 120k miles.

I did some more homework on this problem today. There is a complete parts breakdown (except the TVD clutches themselves), and the parts are common to a range of Lexus vehicles including the IS F. This means setting up the TVD's conventional section isn't magic at all, and parts are available. It should be possible to repair this kind of damage for less than $1k in parts. Keep in mind, there is nothing salvageable except the housing itself, and likely the snap rings used to set preload on the side bearings. Anything else will be at the very least suspect, and IMHO, the gearset and all the bearings are garbage once the metal shards have got into the oil. The only tricky part is there is no guidance on attaching the TVD clutches to the main drive housing - no torque specs, procedures, or guidance for how to do this right. On the upside, the parts breakdown doesn't show axle retention clips, so that dramatically simplifies installing the TVD clutches; no need to hammer in the units like a regular axle. I doubt there's any magic since these things should be easy to build, but it would really suck to go through the whole rebuild process and have something with the TVD clutch installations spoil the whole thing.
