Default Steering Wheel Making Squealing Noise

Just trying to see if anyone else is having this issue? My steering wheel recently started making squealing noises like a cat meowing or something. It only happens when you turn the wheel. I would take it to the dealership, but my warranty is out already. I am at the 60k marker.

I just took mine in for steering wheel squeak. It was covered under the 70K powertrain warranty.

They found the clock spring housing was warped. Ended up replacing the R&R spiral cable assembly.

I too am having this issue. I thought it may have been attributed to the fact I replaced my steering wheel with a DCTMS one and ma be made it too tight. I'm going to have to look into this now. Free99 is always best. Thanks.

That's what I was thinking should be covered under extended power train warranty. Gud luck.

I have had this for a while, when I brought my 2013 GS350 F Sport in last time to the dealer (before my warranty expired) they said the technician lubricated the steering column at the firewall. It didn't solve the issue.

I have an appointment scheduled at Northside Lexus here in Houston tomorrow, when I scheduled it I mentioned the issue still is there and that I think it should be covered by the powertrain warranty. I will report back on what happens.

I contacted my local Lexus dealership and asked if it was covered and they told me it was not under the powertrain warranty. I even looked it up on the website. It doesn't appear to qualify. The guy who got it covered did good. I wish my service Sept would hook it up too.... was quoted approxinstead 6 to 700.

Dealership says they can't cover it under warranty, estimate is $1000. I'm going to ask Lexus corporate to cover it, any advice on how to go about doing this, e.g. who to contact? My plan right now is to start on twitter

Since you had reported the issue when the car was under warranty, they should still honor it (as long as you didn't wait more than a year since reporting it earlier). If they don't, you should probably find another dealership

Unfortunately it's been about 11 months since I previously reported it

Still within a year, so worth trying. (I'm going based on what my dealership in Dallas area told me - I had a problem with weatherstripping around my front door partially falling out - I reported it while it was under warranty, and they fixed it. About 8 months later, when my initial 4 year warranty had expired, the issue occurred again, and the dealership told me that while warranty was no longer applicable, they would still fix it because it was reported less than a year ago).
Your service records should be visible across other dealerships, so maybe go to another dealership and see if they will help you out.

Oh wow, I thought I was the only one with a little kitten in the dash... I'm way over the warranty and I have bigger rattled to worry about, though.

Sorry to bring back this thread back, but I too have started to notice this issue myself. It not always consistent though. Sometimes while turning the steering wheel, it occurs when I am in reverse, in drive or in part and its not every time either. I am wondering if this is going to get worse over time (something I am already assuming). Based on the other threads related to this problem below, some people had luck claiming it under the power train warranty. Can anyone else share their experience with this issue they currently have or already fixed? Since I have the invidia full exhuast, its not as noticeable for regular day to day routine driving.
