I have what appears to be a warranty problem..any comments from others that have had this or know what this is.

When you put the key in, Jade's steering wheel moves outwards, but squeeks as the wheel is moving outwards..

It this a motor or lubrication problem? How long will they need my car to fix this?

I have noticed on her car (when I'm going for gas) if I have put pressure on the wheel as it is returning to the preset position, it makes a squeeking noise, but if I don't have my hands on it, it's silent. So I make sure that I don't have my hands on the wheel.
My guess would be a couple of hours. Hope someone can be more helpful.

 

When it is fairly hot outside, mine does the same thing. It is not consistent enough for me to be able to take it in to the dealer yet though. It has been doing it for the last couple of years. Mine sounds like a lubrication issue. It is worth asking the dealer if it is a warranty issue. Good luck and let us know how yours turns out.

 

This Thursday, Jade is going to get this problem worked on..the noise is there every time I turn on the car and the wheel moves out..Bob says is a lube issue, the dealer thinks its a motor..we shall see what it is,. but they said it was a $1400 job.. so I doubt they are just going to use lube on it..

The best part is I have to take a long trip to Lake Havasu City, and I will be doing it in a free, new Lexus!I was going to rent a car, so as not to get rock chips in mine.
