Default Shift ****/assembly

Good evening. I was hoping I could get some help & guidance with something. I have an ‘18 F Sport that took the place of my ‘14. I really preferred the shift **** on the ‘14 as opposed to the ‘18. I went on the assumption I could just get a **** from a ‘13-‘15 model, and just swap them. Well, I should never assume as it’s not that simple. Received the part today and went down to the garage to swap them. Trouble is, it appears as though I will need to change the cover/boot as well because the interlocking mechanism doesn’t fit. Does anyone know If the cover/boot assemblies are interchangeable? Or have I wasted money on a shift **** I won’t be able to use?

The shift **** and the cover/boot are not interchangeable between the pre-refresh and post-refresh. However, you might still be able to zip tie it all together. See this helpful thread as many folks have swapped newer shift ***** onto the older 13-15 models, and swapped 2016+ ***** for older ones based on preference: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...swap-pics.html

From post #16 on that same thread, a fellow member replaced their 2016+ shifter with the older one: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...l#post10320517

You did exactly what i did, as you would assume the **** simply connects to the existing leather boot

You just need to purchase a new leather boot, there is the older model and the newer model. Do a bit of searching, im ordering mine from this website:

https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts-...x_bracket.html

Scroll down to the middle, you will see the different leather boot options, essentially there is the 58808-30190 and the 58808-30230 variants

the 30190 is for the earlier model shift ***** and the 30320 appears to be for the later model ones. google image search the part numbers to get an idea of what your buying

good luck!

ps: the shift **** literally screws off and on, no need to pay someone to do this for you.

Thank you, both!! DiscoJango, so basically I all need to do is a get the boot from say a 2014 GS F Sport, and I'll be able to take the clip from that boot and attach it to my 2018 boot? Then, obviously, be able to connect the shift **** with the new clip & my current boot?

You will need to remove your current leather boot and install the old model one, however, to install the leather boot, you need to take some parts of the middle console apart. It shouldnt be too difficult, theres a few threads here which outline the process

You cant just change the clip part unfortunately...

I placed the order yesterday around 9am. Got the the boot assembly for a '14 GS350. Then, about an hour later, got an email that the transaction was voided because the ordered part has been discontinued. or back ordered with no ETA for manufacture

Brought my car in for the 40k mile service & have 4 tires mounted and asked them if they could swap the shift *****. And if so, how much would they charge. Service advisor checked with one of the techs, told me the tech would take care of it...no charge. Saved myself a small headache.(and a few dollars).

@AJLex19 Sorry, I don't. Honestly, I asked the service advisor to check with the techs if they can even do it (and how much it would be...labor wise since I had the shift **** and boot assembly). Was thinking this was not something they would be familiar with doing. But, instead he came over to tell me the tech already did it. I was surprised they did it so quickly and didn't charge me for it. Didn't even have time to take pics.
