Default Cloudy Headlights

Hi I recently tried to restore my headlights which look cloudy from about halfway up to the top of the headlight. After getting the sanding done I'm starting to think the problem is inside the headlight. Has anyone had any similar experience?

Dont sand it bro ! Use the Mother' Mag & Aluminum Polish ! Run with the compound 1 time or 2 times, then use the 303 ( 30382 ) Automotive Protectant for UV Resistant ! Trust me, dont ever sand them headlights, you are wasting time and materials !

The issue is on the inside of the lens. I have a little bit of cloudiness on the inside of my RX headlights too. I'm not really sure what can be done to correct it.

maybe it not fully sealed and getting condensation. Check your bulbs and ballasts to make sure it’s seated and sealed properly.

you can buy a new lens on Alibaba, not that expensive, there are several sellers, here is one example:

Chrisfix has a video on his youtube channel which you can try if you aren't feeling like replacing them. It involves sanding and at the end he sprays clear coat on the lens. You can debate if that's good or bad, but if your lights are already shot then I guess it doesn't hurt to try.

You could also buff/polish then put xpel or clear bra over the headlights to protect/make the finish permanent.

Yeah or that.

Mine are starting to haze a bit. I want to change the bulbs too while I'm at it.

Fortunately the cloudy part is at the top of the lens where the hood covers it. I do have Xpel on the GS from day one and they're like new. I think cars that live the majority of their life in the garage like mine don't get as faded on the exterior.

The fogging, hazing and potential discoloration is almost unavoidable unless you cover the headlamp with Xpel or a Clear lens cover. I had the hazing starting to happen on a few areas of my '13 and used Meguiar's headlamp restoration kit: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...l#post10525981

It helped quite a bit but needs to be done every year or two. I do recommend that if you go this route, once you complete the job, cover the headlamp with a clear lens cover/xpel to keep that oxidation and hazing from happening again.

Yeah practically all my cars sit outside and the UV rays eventually causes the clouding of the lens. The plastics on cars that are garage kept typically fare better.

Try WD 40 and soft cloth. Works for me. Sounds weird but definitely worked. I do it every month.
