Default Fogs

Sup fellas - new member here, just bought a 2018 GS350 F-Sport. Couldn't be happier. Was trying to look for fogs and came across these:

Anyone running them or something else? I'm kinda old school and always loved fogs on all my cars.

Thanks,

Those are pretty reasonably priced, but does it work and is it a pain the @$$ to put on and configure?!

Congrats on your new ride. I haven't experienced the fog lamps on the GS either. I found the headlights were more than bright enough. I wish they had fog lights before also.

Great price, but strange specifications. All that (even bulb) is included for $89? Wow!

Okay, it's a huge pain in the *** to install. Pulling the bumper off, installing the lights, running the wires under the hood, and then extending the remote wire (which is almost guaranteed to be too short)... only to find your washer reservoir is too big and in the way, so your bumper will not go back on with the fog lights installed.

So you order a smaller reservoir from a 2013 model, extend your remote wire, pass into the cabin, and then try to figure out WTF the right wires are.

I tapped mine to the parking light wire in the kick panel so I love mine... but I didn't love them until a full week after I recovered from the install-induced frustration had worn off. Also, I bought Nigel's kit for $500, so I'm still a little chapped about the price difference.

But they sure do look cool.

Looks more sporty with the fog lamps.

Unfortunately it seems a pain to install.

@SharpGent You did the right thing by going OEM! There was a general consensus that those cheaper fogs weren't worth it: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-fog-lamp.html

@LOONYGS You can get OEM fogs from places like lexusboutique or nigel JDM:

https://lexusboutique.net/collection...nt=36345923153
https://www.nigel-jdmparts.com/index...roduct_id=1943

If you're feeling adventurous and want to order directly from Japan: https://jp-carparts.com/lexus/partli...pe=12&fig=5201

Welcome and congrats on the new GS!

I recommend jp-carparts.com and amayama.com both offer parts at a much better price shipped on most parts. I have ordered several times from both sites and received parts from Japan in a few days to a week at the most. First time I was surprised how fast I got it.

The ones from Nigel seem legit! But does it come with instructions? Is it a pain the @$$ to do this from this distributor? If only it was simple! Thanks

I watched videos and read up on installing foglights, but ended up paying a local shop that specialized in installing aftermarket foglights $120 to install and wire everything up for me. Even helped me run the on/off switch through the car's firewall. Worth the $120 for sure. Might want to look around to see if any local shops can help you out.

I did the fog lights once on my SUV once and it was a whole day event, the instructions were terrible. I wish a mechanic would have done the install for me.

No instructions. Most of the instructions you could need are in threads on this site.

So, let me be honest for a minute. The install was a pain in the *** for only two reasons:
1 - The washer reservoir needed to be replaced, but I tried the "unbolt it and push it back" method... WHICH DOES NOT WORK... AFTER installing the lights and running the wires. This was frustrating because the bumper was off withe lights in and my excitement high, only to realize that ****** was not going back on. Replacing it was easy, and then the bumper went back on perfectly.
2 - Wiring to the parking light involved a bunch of curse words. I tried the OEM stalk switch, but couldn't jump the connections between the two plugs, and eventually just gave up, choosing instead to wire the remove to the parking light wire. My next task was to locate the correct wire (the green one at the plug in the driver's kick panel, by the way) and tap it. It's so tight and such a tough angle, so it took way longer than I expected.

I already knew going into this project that I would need to add wire to the remote line because it's not long enough to go into the cabin and be usable. I also discovered that my lights were wired in reverse polarity (which is why you test everything before you install), so I had to cut and switch wires for each light.

All in all, it was a full day, but that includes rewiring the lights themselves, a trip to the dealership, and a stop for lunch.
