I received that Qi charging pad. It's too big too big for the phone. Sadly, it's going to be a return unfortunately. I don't have the iPhone Max or Samsung Note so I have no use for the extra part that sticks out.

What make and model of cell phone do you have?
Some models like Samsungs will charge at 2A, but only if you enable the software.
The new Samsung Galaxy S20 Series charges at 3A etc, but only if enabled in the software.
However, in all cases, rapid 2A charging does cause faster ageing of the battery via battery degradation.
Yeah I have a cig plug charger too but my issue is where to put the phone. I'm planning on installing aftermarket carplay so I want it out of the way and it's always such a hassle to put it in the console while plugged in. Most of the time I just toss it onto the passenger seat. My iPhone XR is also too big to place on the tray within the center console.
My options are as follows:
1. Buy the wireless charging replacement tray from alibaba/aliexpress,
2. Get the big charging pad from eBay to place at the bottom of the console, or
3. Get the iPhone SE and a smaller charging pad (ones you can trim to fit)
I had been planning on getting the smaller SE and giving the XR to the wife... so it could work out
Yeah, works like a champ on an iPhone 11. I did find some articles about issues being fixed in iOS 14.2 but still no dice on this particular charger. Weird.
So I got the one from aliexpress that requires me to piggyback the cigarette lighter wires/cord by removing the center console cover...
Based on the instructions above - I remove the radio surround, then the two leather sides. Then I loosen one single bolt? and I can pull it off? I see two bolts in the picture above.
Anyone have clear instructions on how to install it?
ok just to update i did connect the aliexpress wireless charging pad by lifting up the center console (undid two screws) but i just left the shielded wire on under the console as i snapped it in. I dont think it will cause any issues but if there's a cleaner way to let the wire through (without drilling a hole) please let me know!
I have used the TOZO MagSafe knockoff with great results. I actually have two real MagSafe chargers and MUCH prefer the TOZO one on amazon. I have the shapeways 3d printed phone mount that goes on the dash and mounted the real MagSafe charger. My phone would drop over hard bumps , falling in the drivers footwell. I replaced it with a TOZO knockoff and it holds the phone much more secure. the phone has not fallen off yet while I have been driving, it charges very fast as well. I have this 45w USBC charger and it works great:
