Probably something using the cig lighter for power would be a great item. There are a lot, not sure which works. It's hard to return if purchased from Alibaba.
Opening and closing the lid of the central console bin is literally more work than just plugging in a Lightning or USB-C plug?
Does anyone know if the wireless charger continually draws a current, even if that is only a low current - while not in use?
Unplugging the wireless charger itself to stop drawing the background current would be the same as plugging/unplugging the cell phone; unless there is an on/off switch.
Also, does a wireless compatible silicone case make the wireless charging any slower?

There is a light on mine so yes its drawing some current when not in use, but since it is pigtailed on the lighter port, there is no power to it when the car is off. There is no on/off switch.
Cases do slow down the charging but it is very minimal - almost unnoticeable

Here is a wireless charger I purchased when I had the NX. It's the Pioneer SDA-WC01. It's really well made. The pad itself is a rubber/silicone material that forms to any curved surface it's placed on, so it'll work perfectly well on dashboards. I originally placed it in front of my navigation screen, but ultimately decided to place it in the center console. The bottom of the pad has a really grippy material on it, so it attracts a lot of dust and lint. I don't know what it is, but it'll definitely prevent the pad from sliding around regardless of how sharp of a turn you make.

I bought the one off of alibaba for like $44. It pigtails into the wiring for the cigarette lighter. It wasn't too hard to install but a plug would have been easier.

Let me know your thoughts. I like it because the sides prevent the phone from falling out. Also, the material is a rubber/silicone material so I don't have to worry about it damaging any of the materials inside my car, like leaving scratches or dents.
I keep mine at the bottom of my center armrest.

Will do. If not right, I'll return it.
I need the space in the center armrest storage area, I'm thinking about using it on top of the tray only. It's cheap for $20 + tax so it's worth the try for me.
I bought a wireless charger.
The input is 5V and 2A = 10 W, however the output is only 5V and 1A = 5 W; hence a 50% loss in both power efficiency and charging speed.
Theoretically, if I was wireless charging a Tesla Model S P100, my electricity bill would double!
However, what concerns me more is that the phone battery really heats up during charging, and this heating up causes faster long term battery degradation.
I removed the Spigen Clear Silicone Gel Air Bumper Case from the cell phone to test the wireless charging again, and after so many minutes, the cell phone heats up again!
Normally, when I conventionally plug charge with the Spigen Clear Silicone Gel Air Bumper Case @ 5V and 1A, the cell phone doesn't really heat up at all.
What do you guys think?
Or many have not picked up on this?
PS
I just double checked.
Even when wearing a Spigen Clear Silicone Gel Air Bumper Case, my cell phone does not heat up at all, when charged via conventional USB-C plug.
The noticeable heating up of the battery is disconcerting, given that I know what heat does to batteries long term.
You guys are wirelessly charging just like that???
