Default 4GS 350F Questions

Howdy,

I am looking to replace my current car (2009 Scion tc) and have come to the conclusion the GS350F is my next car. The wife has asked me to wait until September so I am in the drooling and chomping at the bit stage. I have done a decent amount of research over the last few weeks but I do have some questions for you experienced GS owners.

I have been looking at gently used 2015s through 2017s and I have come across multiple vehicles listed as the 2015 Crafted Line. My concern here is that they are either the Ultra White or Silver. My understanding is the Crafted Line only came in Ultra White with the Obsidian mirrors, bumper accent, door handles, and the red/black leather seats. However these are either straight Ultra White or Silver and have the standard Cabernet or all Black interior. Did the Crafted Line come in the Silver or straight Ultra White or is the dealer incorrect? In my area there are 8 listed but only 1 meets the actual criteria my research says it should have.

The reason I am looking at 15s is there are a tone of them in my area with low mileage for an unbeatable price (>30k for $25-27k) and while I love both front ends, the 2015 has grown on me.

I was 99% sure, thank you for verifying.

Now I wonder if I walk in and call BS on the dealer how things will go.

A lot of dealerships and online listings say a car is "crafted line" but it's a straight up lie. Crafted Line only came in Ultra White.

Yup, I've seen quite a few dealers do this.

I've also seen some dealers list BMW 6 and 7 series as Alpina B6 and B7s thinking people won't know. They either don't know what they're talking about or they're trying to prey on the ignorant.

The latter, definitely. They demand a higher price by labeling the cars like you mentioned.

if you obtain the vin (usually in the listing) you can check how the car came from the factory via lexus website. https://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrive.../vehicle-specs

I've seen this numerous times as well, most commonly at dealers that have a bunch of different cars. Crafted line came in ultra white with black exterior accents, black wheels, different interior trim as well as black seats with red accents. I'd just send them a link from the lexus drivers side showing the specs and if that doesn't do it then move on. I've seen cars like that sell but probably to those that didn't know any better and got taken advantage of.

Did you say anything to the dealer or just let it go?

I'm curious how this revelation will impact the pricing.

What I found is that when looking for pricing in your area via KBB, you should be choosing Base edition and then adding on F-Sport as a trim level. My guess is that dealers either knowingly or unknowingly assume F Sport must be a Crafted line and choose that option instead of Base and appropriate trim level.

I put all the correct info into kbb and they are within $500 of the kbb value for a 2015 GS350F with the right packages it has and mileage.

Not a huge difference, maybe they just need to be educated.

I let it go because all the other GS's in my area with the same miles and condition were all more expensive LOL. plus it was the only blue one within 500 miles of me at that time so i wasn't about to walk away either way but if i can get one in over on the stealership then **** it why now.
