Does anyone know if the latest Gen 9 or 10 Nav has this capability? On my Gen10 RC Nav I only see small building icons here and there on the map screen but nothing like this. I want this!

I remember my 14 GS didn't have this feature and I don't know what Gen it was. Does the GS have this now?

Yea but it doesn't show the 3D buildings like this, at least not on my Gen 10.

 

Sure it does. Mine looks like that when I’m in the city.

I'll snap a picture the next time I'm in the city. I don't get very many buildings when driving around the burbs and out of town, but when I go into downtown (Seattle) it's completely filled with 3D buildings.

 

Zoom in closer...much closer.

 

I tried zooming to 300 and even street level and the buildings barely get any bigger and at street level or the last zoom available, the buildings just disappeared. It doesn't look anything like my first post above. Did they change it on the Gen10?

 

Only some buildings are 3d. Depends on the city.

 

It's in all 2015+ models as other noted and will only work major metro cities. Here are a few screenshots from Chicago that I posted in the "Favorite discovered..." thread a while back.

 

Damn that's nice!!!! What Gen is that Nav? I drive around in Downtown LA and never get anything close to that.

 

His navigation is gen 8 (2015 GS). That's also what I had on my 2014 IS350 and my 2015 GS350. My 2019 GS350 has gen 9. The 3D maps and buildings was introduced in gen 8.

 

Are you seeing any buildings, or just not that many?

I ask because the buildings can be turned on and off and I wonder if yours is off.

It should be something like:

Menu > Setup > Navigation > Detailed Navi. Settings > 3D City Model Map

 

If anything would this be more of a distraction? I feel it only serves to block the street behind it, and it's not we are driving from 500 feet above.

 

I don't really find it distracting, but if I am really relying on the nav, the buildings can indeed get in the way in this view. It's not often that it happens, but if it does I just click back to the top view for as long as needed.
