I'm seriously looking at a gs450h now. I'll have to do the math again but I find with how much I drive, after a certain $$$ amount per gallon of gas it's cheaper to get another car with better mileage. Thankfully I stop have my Honda but the Lexus has spoiled me with it's comforts...
My last fillup was $6.15 a gallon. But i don't see the pump that often so that's good.
A friend of mine just texted me that she just paid $6 a gallon for regular 87 octane gas at a Costco in Eureka, CA. Almost $78 to fill up a Highlander Hybrid. Mind blown.
Premium is up to $4.80 here just outside of Austin, TX. Folks are going to be real unhappy if regular goes over $5 here in TX.
Check out www.gasbuddy.com for the best prices in your area. It's free, I used it sometimes when Costco isn't nearby.
There's a free phone app for it also.
Great app, you just sign up as a free member and you can get some savings as well. Sometimes they have deals of up to $0.25 off per gallon. Only requirement is taking a picture of your receipt to upload it I believe.
I'm in Jersey and the last fill up for me was about $75, and that was regular. With Costco, I need to get there crazy early during opening which takes a few minutes to fill up. Otherwise I spend roughly half hour or more just waiting in line which extends out from the gas station on to the main road. It's not worth the headache and I just go to a local station.
Costco premium was $4.79/gal this Sunday morning in Charleston, SC. No waiting at the pump when everyone else is in church. During the work week, it's 5 to 7 cars deep at every pump.
If the prices keep rising, the next new car will be a Lexus or Toyota hybrid.
