Wow you are the man!! I finally got it to work! You have to first click on Carplay, then you are taken to a difference screen where it tells you that your UI is disabled. You have to click on the top line 10X! Thanks a bunch!

As a follow up, CarPlay works amazingly well. The only issue is that when someone calls I can hear then perfectly but they hear static. Is this a known issue?

You may need to turn up Media Volume under Sounds setting. It is very low out of the box. I have zero static on my calls or music, nothing that I can hear at least.

The static is only with CarPlay. My audio settings are at max. When I take the phone cable out then the static goes away.

Try another cable preferably USB cable that came with your phone. If it still persists, try another iPhone. Or call support. Maybe you have a bad USB port.

Hi guys. First time posting here. I have a 2012 Lexus CT200h with Navigation system and today I ordered the GROM VLINE VL2 to get CarPlay in my CT200h which I love to death. It has only 68K miles so my plan is to keep as long as I can. Does anybody here have installed the VL2 in a 2011 or 2012 CT200h?

This is a 4th Gen ('13-Present) GS forum, you will not get any CT owners in here. IMO GROM VL2 works best with Gen8 or 9 Lexus Infotainment. Lots of issues with the older models. You can read up on ISF owners ('08-'14) here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...vline-123.html

Those old Lexus seems to be very buggy. GROM have since fixed lot of issues. But be wary you may encounter bugs.

WOW.. didn't know about all those bugs with Gen6. Thanks for the heads up. I just cancelled my order with GROM Audio.

LOL didn't mean to freak you out. I'd still try it and see if bugs are gone. Many of those issues were with earlier releases of Vline. I'm sure they fixed most of it now. You do have 30 days warranty and GROM is very good with support IMO. You could try LSailt or Carlink..not sure if they're available for your CT though. Go do some research.

I called GROM and asked them for an honest feedback and they said that most of the issues reported from Gen 6 owners have being sorted out but I can still encounter some issues mostly related to my model. I think at this point I'm going to pass as I didn't feel the technician to be 100% sure about the reliability of his own product.

Made an account just to make sure I let everyone here know how terrible my GROM VLine experience has been. They sent me the wrong product, took forever to get back to me and then refused to believe what I was saying. I am trying my best to get it returned but they won't cover shipping or the installation cost. For the price this unit is I would not recommend anyone taking on the risk to have such horrible customer experience. IF the product works (big IF as you will notice in this thread), then lucky you but for that price its just not worth the gamble. Get a bluetooth to aux connecter and an iPhone stand for 5% of the price and you'll get 90% of the functions.

Massive warning - at your own risk, don't make the same mistake I did.

I fixed mine and I have never had a single case of flicker once I redid the existing cable I had with better workmanship.

This is ridiculous that this is still happening with new installs of this product @gromaudio
How did you fix the cables? I am having the same flickering issues and it is driving me nuts.

That sucks but it's the risk you take to save money. Having the installer supply the unit would take you out of the equation...in exchange for a mark-up! They should pay for the return postage however, being their booboo.

I'm out the country right now so I can't post pics but search for my posts under this thread. I posted a bunch of pics of the GROM video cable the one with DVI to two GVIF connectors. The DVI end was soldered wrong; I think the bought a GVIF cable, cut it in half and then soldered the DVI end by hand to make the video cable that connects the in car 12.3 display , the OEM head unit and the VL2 together.

I desoldered it and rebuilt the cable correctly, now I have no issues with flickering.

I took the “risk” and it was by far the best decision I’ve made in regards to the GS aside from the purchase of the car itself. The unit has been rock solid, and has been an absolute pleasure to use.

On top of that, their support has been top-notch each time I’ve needed it, so I don’t know what happened here. Hopefully they take care of it.
