Default Headlight flicker

passenger headlight is starting to flicker randomly, im
assuming it’s about to go out... anyone changed their bulbs yet?

I figured I’d change the bulbs first, if that doesn’t fix it then i’ll change the ballasts. If that doesn’t work I guess it’s the junction box. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

What is the model number for our bulbs if I ordered them online?

Are the bulbs easy to change out or will I need to remove the headlamp assembly?

Thanks in advance

I dont know if this is your case but i had this problem with my LS460 ! Turned out there was a water leak from the outside rain to the inside of the headlamp assy. Check for moisture, water all around the headlamp assy and see if everything it seal nice and tight.
We use D4S ( https://www.ebay.com/itm/D4S-Philips...8zz:rk:12:pf:0 )
To change the bulbs out, very easy. Just pop the hood , take the black covers off. Use your strong hand and twist the aluminum cover to your right from where you standing. Unplug the the power supply. Push and pop the clips that hold the bulb and you can easily take it out.

My GS 350 does not have the headlight flicker. Was that an option in 2013?

If you haven't done so already - try just switching the two bulbs you already have, first. You might find something just has a loose/bad connection somewhere, or you might find that your problem follows a particular bulb when swapped (in which case, get yourself some new D4S HID Bulbs - sometimes sold individually, but you're often better off replacing them as a set anyway).

If your issue is always on the same side while you are swapping bulbs, though, it might be time for a new D4S Ballast.

Swapping a few things around will at least help you better identify what problem you are trying to solve.

It's not difficult but you want to take your time to avoid damage to the bulbs as it's a tight space. Even then, 20mins for both sides should be all you need.

Make sure you wear clean gloves as the oils on your fingers will shorten the life of the bulbs, try to only touch the base, but don't drop the bulbs

For the driver side, you access it from the wheel well. Turn your wheel all the way to the right to get to the access panel there.

Some install tips can be found here:

My 4GS drivers side headlight just started flickering last night. My bulbs are only about 1.5 years old and I used legit Osram bulbs too. I bet it’s the ballast. I’m not mechanically inclined so it’s off to the Indy shop or Lexus dealer.

Do you guys think by leaving your headlight on Auto will reduce the life of the bulb/ballast? When I start the car with headlight on Auto, the HID flashes due to the surging voltage. I wonder if I should just turn it on manually?
