Default Hud

I made a decision to pull the trigger on a 2018 GS 350 F Sport but my dealer is telling me that he can not get a model that has the HUD. Seems pretty strange that Lexus does not have this as an option that can be picked up pretty easily. Is there something I am missing with Lexus and the HUD?

For some unknown reason Lexus just makes very few GS 350s with the HUD option.

Are you ordering it or cross checking dealer to dealer. It's a pain for them to buy from each other but I suppose if the HUD is a showstopper for you than see what they can do.

Your gonna love whatever 18 you get. I just got mine a month ago. It's kind of strange a HUD is not available if it is a special order?! I was inquiring about special ordering one with triple beams in a RWD format and my salesman stated it was not available. Lexus offers HUD & triple beams as an option, but so far I never got a clear answer as to whether this feature was available or not. I'd assume your getting an AWD? Rumor has it that Lexus is dropping the GS line but no one really seems to know. I'm guessing 18 may be the last year for GS but, I just don't know for sure. They did drop the base price by $2750 from last years 17 model. So, if you were to see a new 17 it's gonna base more than an 18. What color combo are you getting?

I told the sales manager originally that I wanted Black with the Red interior but when he emailed me the email from his guy at Lexus that the HUD option is going to be hard to get I told him get me any color as long as it isn't Orange and preferably with Red interior. He emailed me back and told me it is not sounding to promising. He cc'd me on the email to his guy from Lexus on a special order but I haven't heard anything yet.

They have 16 models in stock and all are RWD, I live in Florida now(haven't updated my location in a while). I did a local search and there are barely any GS models around. I am assuming either Lexus is really going to drop the model or they just don't want to build too many.

So your telling me you can't go to the Lexus website customize the car with HUD and order it to your desired spec? Why offer the feature at all, if they can't sell it to you? Seems odd. I know inventory is one think but I thought you could custom order the cars from Lexus and they build it.

That's exactly what I said to the sales manager and he agrees with me. We created an order sheet for the guy at Lexus and he said that it is going to be extremely hard to get the car. We both can't seem to understand why the option is so hard to get. I should get an answer tomorrow in regards to why we are having this issue. For some reason, features like the ML sound system, parking sensor and power trunk are common add ons but HUD is not. They have it on all their GSF model(88k MSRP) but not on the F Sport models.

Wow, I must have been very lucky! I asked the dealer to locate a very specific GS with the HUD and he found one that was in-country, but not allocated to a dealer yet. It took about 3 weeks to be shipped from CA to OH. It was an F sport with AWD, ML audio and triple beams among other options (pretty much loaded).

When researching available cars I saw very few with the HUD options which leads me to believe they are not common--at least now during the first wave of 2018 deliveries. Perhaps they will add the HUD more to later units being produced this year???

There could potentially be a packaging issue too. For example, HUD may only be available on cars with X, Y or Z feature (such as AWD or f sport). Dunno for sure, just "thinking out loud".

Have you done a nationwide search on cars.com? That's where I found mine, do an advanced search with the specific options you want. I ended up getting Caviar[black]/red interior on mine. The deal I got was well worth the time & $$ to fly down and pick the car up. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to PM me and maybe I can help ya out. Would you be willing to travel if your dealer doesn't meet the numbers you want? My local dealer came close on one but, then I found the one I wanted and he wouldn't do the numbers the dealer in Texas was doing so I bought it down there. The experience of fly & drive was a blast. Also, have you checked Lexus of Orlando? Last time I checked they seemed to have a lot of inventory on GS's.

I would say you got pretty lucky SpicedRum. After looking at probably hundreds online prior to purchasing mine it seemed like AWD GS's were better equiped than RWD's. nore03 are you really gonna settle on about any color? One thing I wasn't going to compromise on was my Caviar/Red combo. I really wished I could've found one with triple beams but I've yet to see a RWD with them.

Unless you have full confidence in the dealer your working with I can tell ya a few things some of the dealers pulled on me. Not all people "Experience Amazing" with Lexus, that I can tell ya! Some of them are just as bad as Kurt Russell was in the movie Used Cars if anyone here is old enough to remember that one. Starbucks and croissants don't sway me when it comes down to the #'s.
