So I have used the Apexi Throttle Controller for almost 9 months and last month I have been having issues with my car. The trac off will turn on and my check engine light will turn on. I will lose power on the pedal and will not accelerate. If i turn off my engine and turn it back on, I will gain power back on the pedal. Here and there the check engine light will turn back off and on. Yesterday morning, the acceleration pedal wasnt working at all so I ended up towing it to the dealership. They concluded that it was because of the Apexi Throttle COntroller that messed up the volts on the sensor? I havent heard anything bad about the Throttle Controller doing this. Has anyone had a similiar problem? They are asking for $900 to replace the sensor. Thank you in advance.
That's not good. Email Apexi and see what they have to say. You seem to be the first of many people who have installed this on ClubLexus to have problems.
I probably would've taken the controller off and hook it back up OEM.
The Apexi works by increasing voltage/amperage to the throttle controls to attain a faster response. Over a period of time these increases can have a detrimental effect on the throttle control components.
that's what I heard too apex give more voltage to have faster response that's why I didn't get it because my coworker say it might screw up ur car ecu.
I've been debating on removing it and after reading this I definitely will. Does anyone know if it's as simple as unplugging and removing the device? The manual doesn't mention anything specific about removing it. It only has a small section on re-initializing the device when installing on another vehicle.

After reading how it uses higher voltage to attain faster response I also chose not to buy it
Where is the sensor exactly? Anyone else run into this issue? I run mine on red all the time. $900 seems insane, what part/labor are they showing on paper is required?
I just took my controller out yesterday. I reverted back to stock form on my IS250. It's been a little over a year that I got it. I think it was about to take a nose dive. The car would feel like it wanted to stall out at times. When pushing the accelerator the car would hesitate tremendously. Also the car felt very sluggish to accelerate while driving. Luckily no cell ever popped up. The bad thing is I recommended it to fellow members on the 2IS forums. I'm thinking because of the heat maybe messed up the electronics on the cotroller. My car sits out in the Texas heat always. For now in it's stock form the car feels very responsive once again.
Sorry to hear about the ApexI throttle controller. I least you told other people who have not purchased it yet; i was thinking about getting it for my car....
